Figured it was time for a new poll and I was curious what everyone thought. You know who I’m voting for.
EJ has stepped it up a lot since two years ago. Character and leadership wise yea EJ takes the cake
lol at whomever voted for booker
gimme Lee.
EJ is a very close 2nd behind him.
the problem i have with lee right now it seems he is still favoring his foot a little on defense and gets a lot of touch fouls.
You have to go with Drayton. He is the only thing we can count on inside.Because you don’t know what you will get out of Coleman & Williamson.I wish the niners had the talent so he could play the 3.I think he would be great at that position. He handles the ball good enough and he is not a bad shooter from the arc.
it has to be ej by far. he is the only one that always seems to been playing consistently hard and well. the only one who didnt seem to quit in the davidson game.
I dont get it…we have a transfer who’s an NBA prospect, and no one’s picking him, because he’s had a couple of bad games, because people focus entirely on him…and no one here even supports/likes him. People can have their own opinion…I’m not saying anything except I don’t get it. I love Lee and EJ, but are they going NBA? Do they have a chance?
I voted for DA for exactly those reasons, as did 21.21% of the voters. That’s good for second, so I don’t think you could say that NO ONE’s voting for him. It’s just that more people are voting for EJ, which is understandable since he is the only one on our team who can play his position well and he’s leading the A-10 in rebounds (or at least he was at last check).
Everyone who didn’t vote for DA didn’t bring their brain with them whenever they voted. It didn’t say who is the most valuable player, just who is our best player. I think EJ has the most value on our team, but DA by far has more talent and more ability than anyone on the team.
I mean Jeez, GW and SLU structured their gameplans to stop De’Angelo at all costs. He was met with doubles all night, and you see who won those games. Of course, we don’t have that neutralizer and road killer by the name of Withers on our team this year either. Just to think teams keyed in on Curt and he still went for almost a double-double each game last year.

freakin thank you.

It says better player… not most talented. So he gets double teamed? Ok, well if there’s two on him there’s someone with a better shot. I’m just not all for his decision making. It’s gotten better but I’m still rarely impressed. So he might have the most talent but he sure doesn’t try the hardest. If he has a screen set on him he’d rather flop and try and win an oscar then run through it. Just b/c someone has the most NBA potential doesn’t mean much to me either… since I see alot of crap in that league. Offensively? Yes, he is the best. Overall? I don’t believe so. My opinion but I believe it is very justified, and I wouldn’t say people have no brain or little of a brain b/c of their vote… unless they voted for booker.
Our best player is our player who does the most for this team. That is EJ. He scores on relatively few shots and rebounds like a madman. He plays out of position and is a matchup nightmare. He should be the focus of our offense, but we are stupid.
today’s insane dunk just proved to me that ej is the key to our team this year. If DA would play like he is up for the wooden award things would be totally different

Deangelo Alexander is awful. He has a flare for the dramatic and some talent, but he is a horrid “player” and when he had the chance to tie it up today, he sinks 1/3 free throws…pathetic.
LEEMIRE!
EJ is a VERY close second. I would vote for EJ if he would quit launching friggin bricks from 20 feet and make a free throw once in a while. I LOVE his toughness and heart though. He is a stud on the rebounds too.
Deangelo our best player? NO WAY
Hands down, EJ is the man this year! UMass is a tough team down low and he still managed 13 rebounds and 16 points. 2 points from an amazing and well deserved dunk!
Leemire is a close second, and Ian has really stepped up.

OK let’s get this straight once and for all, DeAngelo is not a NBA prospect and will never play in the NBA. He is a nice player, who has had some nice games for us, but he is NOT a NBA prospect. He plays great against inferior talent and does nothing against players with the same or better athletic ability. DA didn’t tranfer from OK because he didn’t want to be a star there, he tranfered because he wouldn’t be a star there and was not willing to do the things it takes to be successful in Sampson’s program.
I like DA and when he lets the game come to him and doesn’t jack up ridiculous shots, he is a very effective player, unfortunetely that doesn’t happen anywhere near as much as it should for a player of his age and experience.

I voted for Travis Gordon.

EJ’s one weakness has been freethrows, but he has improved on those the last couple games. His jumpshot was off in the first half against UMass, but he picked it up in the second. He is the most reliable player we have.
DA makes a lot of shots, but that’s because he TAKES a lot of shots, many of them ill-advised threes with absolutely nobody in rebounding position. When he misses those, which is too often, the other team is off to the races, and we’re spread all over the floor.
Lee is a great streak shooter, and the best point guard we have, but EJ scores, rebounds, and makes far fewer mistakes than the other players.
I love EJ, but he did fall asleep on defense yesterday, especially early. He’s giving us one helluva season playing out of position though.
The problem with this stupid poll is that “best” is a subjective term. Define it first and then maybe we can talk. But, IMLTHO, these things are true:
-
EJ has been a godsend following the NCAA-Phil screw job, and Twon’s bad back. He is extremely valuable to this poor shooting team because he is the only guy who is likely to get an offensive board.
-
Leemire is extremely important to this team because his hot shooting is a game changing factor. Also, he is the one guy who can drive to the hoop and finish. When he’s 100%, he’s good enough defensively to mention.
-
DA is the best offensive player we have, but he’s been Invisible as the book is out in the A10 that if you stop him, you beat us. Teams are absolutely sacrificing two of their best athletes to guard him on the perimeter, and we aren’t setting ANY screens for him, so he’s screwed. It doesn’t help that his decision making can fail when he gets frustrated. But no matter what any clown on this board says, he is an NBA prospect. That doesn’t mean that he WILL play in the league, but don’t fool yourselves that he isn’t getting serious looks. Scouts are very aware of him. I wish we’d help out his offense by setting him some real screens (no whistles!), not cause it will make him money, but because it would help us win.
Also, as usual, the book is out that it’s o.k. to rough us up, cause the officials are not calling it this late in the year (Same Sh!t, Different Season) and we don’t respond well and wear down from all the grabbing, pushing, pulling, and bumping. We played like a tired, sore team in the 2nd half yesterday, and a lot of second halves in conference play.
