Will UNC-CH Belichick hire succeed?

If this works, even modestly, it could change the landscape of college football forever. Big schools, paying big money, to set up shop like a pro franchise is HIGHLY risky but will be attractive to the other top programs if the Holes have success.

I think it will likely only modestly work (at best) or go up in flames in 18 months. Hoping for the dumpster fire of all dumpster fires up the highway in Chapel Hill.

I sincerely hope he fails miserably. Given that he cheated to win Super Bowls, he will do right in at UNC Cheat.
I also hope this ramped up spending causes them and all the other “Power 5” programs to go bankrupt it would be fitting since they have killed true college athletics.

It will be a big difference with 18yr olds versus pro players. You are not going to be able to fine players, etc. like the pros. Plus, he has never had to answer to mom and Dad’s about why Jr is not playing. That will drive him crazy. These are still kids at the end of the day and not pros

He never won anything without Brady. He’s overrated.

Paid like pros but kids nonetheless.

Hate this new “model”. Killing my interest in college athletics, even my Niners

First year I ever even had the thought of not renewing football and basketball next year.
Nothing to do with record but all about the model.

We have 4 of our former players starting on “Power 5” teams that if here would have had us back into relevance. I don’t want to hear about Sanchez and if we hired better, fact is this is our perpetual fate now. Any good player we have will be paid big$ and will leave each and every year.
No thanks.

My opinion has always been that the patriots would have been nothing without Giselle. How many star players, let alone qbs, pull in a smaller salary than their partner. It allowed Brady to give the patriots a discount which allowed belichick a bit extra cash to find a supporting cast.

Interesting take.

First 3 SBs were more belicheck than brady IMO.

It fits that the biggest cheater in NFL history that was able to basically sweep everything under the rug is now coaching at a school who had a fake major for 20 + years for their athletes and were able to get away with it by firing their women’s bball coach and calling it an “academic issue.”

Looking at the reality of ACC football in that it is a halfling compared to the B1G and SEC based on committed revenue sharing deals, I can only conclude that UNC is hoping for further expansion of the B1G and SEC, and most likely the SEC since they are at 16 teams. (I feel FSU has a jump on that) The budget numbers being used for UNC don’t seem to work. For revenue sharing, which starts at $20M, most programs are adding to season ticket prices and by a lot including minimum donations to scholarship funds. UNC does not have that large of a stadium, so their prices will have to increase even more. Does UNC really have that deep of a football fanbase where +$1500 season tickets are the norm for seven home games of which only a few are against decent competition? Instead of building yet another basketball arena, they need to direct those efforts to football.

Yes, Bill will be successful. UNC prioritizes winning. The obstacles that Charlotte has in front of us (that we have the ability to remove but do not, and not lack of money) get immediately addressed in Chapel Hill.

Do not be surprised if in the near future Charlotte’s football program gets shut down. If UNC wants it, they get it.

UNC wants the Charlotte market. They need it to grow. Of course, we are not an immediate threat but have all the potential to be.

There is a precedence, Alabama successfully got the UAB football program shut down. Don’t think it could not happen here. The BIG BOY programs are at war and it will continue to take more to feed their needs. Charlotte is fertile ground.

We are a potential threat that must be managed by the UNC system. For reference, med school, law school, name change, “don’t start football,” and long history of inadequate funding from the UNC system that most are not aware of.

Yes, Bill and UNC will be successful. The UNC system demands it. The question is, will we?

Excited 2018 Nfl GIF by New England Patriots

The conspiracy theory’s make me chuckle. We aren’t a threat to UNC Chapel Hill in the least.

Chapel Hill does not have the Alabama power. Yea they have outsized influence but we do not report to the CH BoT. We roll up to the BoG which would not attempt anything like that because it is not run by only CH.

They did everything they could to stop us from getting a team. Yet here we are and since state funding can’t find athletics they can’t pull that string.

At UAB they are actually report up to AlabamaZ

Now I will agree that long term chapel hill fears us, but. It in athletics. There is a reason they have blocked our medical and law desires.

The name change is going to happen, we are just doing it the right way not trying to rush it thru and unlike other items name change goes thru the legislative branch.

Before the contract was printed for UNC Belichick was working the Jets. There’s some commitment.

It would be delightful if he ditched Chapel Hill before coaching one game there.
