Courtney Williams will admit this much, that when the Charlotte 49ers arrived back in the Queen City yesterday at 6 p.m. from the BCA Invitational, they should have had a championship trophy in hand… More after the jump
“Particularly if I could say anything to the fans it would be to stick with us and not to give up on us,” Williams said. “Because we’re going to be fine.”
MS, You’re right. Every A-10 team will force Princeton-type-O on us till we stop it. They’d be dumb not to.
That type of offense isn’t something you implement in the days leading up to a game. It is a system that consumes every practice through out the season to learn and even then, some don’t get it.
You will only see it out of teams that traditionally run it. It is used to offset the imbalance in size and athletisism that often exists in college basketball.
Add Temple to the list of very tough games this year. Look at the Boxscore from last night to UCLA, there zone is a tough one. They force you to stand outside and take jumpshots. They play 3 6-6 guards at the top to even make the jumpshots tough, but they allow almost no inside game and rebounding is difficult. Of course they don’t have much offense either so they are able to keep the game long and slow.
Courtney Williams’s stats aren’t too shabby so far. Counting the exhibition, he’s 5 of 9 with 15 rebounds, a couple blocks, a couble assists and a steal in 49 minutes.
