Happy Birthday Curtis Withers! (August 2)Curtis Withersā¦
On my birthday I always like to relax and get some sleep, so thatās what I didā¦on the plane. I got a lot of rest during the traveling out of the country so basically thatās how I spent my birthday. The plane flight was one of the longest flights Iāve taken thus far. The food was actually pretty good, too.The bus ride, I felt like it was kind of like a movie. We saw a lot of the countryside, we saw how a lot of people live in the city (Buenos Aires), we got to see the shore from the streets (of Mar del Plata) when we got to town. I saw some of the shacks that are on the outside of (Buenos Aires) and I canāt believe people live in some of those places.
We also stopped in the McDonaldās. But it was different. There was no dollar menu. It was kind of funny ordering food. I can now see how people who migrate to the U.S. feel, as far as speaking and blending in with everybody else. Itās very hard when you canāt communicate with people. I had Allan Ray translate my order for me. Heās from the Bronx and his girlfriend is Hispanic and he knows some Spanish so he translated for me.
I havenāt visited the beach in a long time, itās been a long time since Iāve seen Myrtle Beach. This is almost better though, itās a little like a Venice Beach type of atmosphere. Yeah, Venice Beach.
Practice tonight was actually good. I actually had some legs and energy for once. The gym reminded me of a recreation league, as well as the kids in the background. We were dunking and they were going, āooh, ahh.ā
I want to say hello to everybody back home, as well as my mother and my son.
