Happy Birthday Curtis Withers! (August 2)

Curtis Withers…
On my birthday I always like to relax and get some sleep, so that’s what I did…on the plane. I got a lot of rest during the traveling out of the country so basically that’s how I spent my birthday. The plane flight was one of the longest flights I’ve taken thus far. The food was actually pretty good, too.

The bus ride, I felt like it was kind of like a movie. We saw a lot of the countryside, we saw how a lot of people live in the city (Buenos Aires), we got to see the shore from the streets (of Mar del Plata) when we got to town. I saw some of the shacks that are on the outside of (Buenos Aires) and I can’t believe people live in some of those places.

We also stopped in the McDonald’s. But it was different. There was no dollar menu. It was kind of funny ordering food. I can now see how people who migrate to the U.S. feel, as far as speaking and blending in with everybody else. It’s very hard when you can’t communicate with people. I had Allan Ray translate my order for me. He’s from the Bronx and his girlfriend is Hispanic and he knows some Spanish so he translated for me.

I haven’t visited the beach in a long time, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen Myrtle Beach. This is almost better though, it’s a little like a Venice Beach type of atmosphere. Yeah, Venice Beach.

Practice tonight was actually good. I actually had some legs and energy for once. The gym reminded me of a recreation league, as well as the kids in the background. We were dunking and they were going, ā€˜ooh, ahh.’

I want to say hello to everybody back home, as well as my mother and my son.

curt is practicing for when he takes over as charlotte 49ers beat writer after his senior year

I can relate to the long flight and ordering food in a different culture. This is great for Cut and hopefully he’ll learn a lot more than just basketball.

Awsome find/great post. I loved reading that!

ā€œmy sonā€ Curt dosen’t spend all of his time on the court.

He's gonna have his hands full with little Jalen(?) - he sat right beside me for the conference tourney game. All he wanted to do was have me take pictures of him in different poses. His mom said that he's REALLY into basketball too - maybe incoming class of 2020??

Pictures, etc

Check out the bowling pictures - Could Curt be going back to the headband look? Is he switching teams?
