Wonder if Gerrityâs seen this? I still say we wouldâve been worse with Gerrity.
HarrisâŚby far my favorite Niner this year. Where can I get a Harris jersey?
Quickly becoming my favorite of all time.
From the preview on Cincinnati.com:
Overall Team OffenseThe Charlotte 49ers are ranked 272 for offensive field goal percentage shooting 41.0% while attempting 59.5 shots per game. The 49ers shooting percentages include 69.2% for free throw percentage and 29.9% for three point percentage so far this season.

Thought this was pretty awesome!HARRISâ PASSING FANCY - 5th in Nation:
Junior DiJuan Harris now ranks 5th in the nation in assists and 7th in the nation in A-TO ratio. Harris, who passed out a career-best 15 assists with just one turnover vs. George Washington has 164 assists (6.83/gm). He owns a 2.98 A-TO ratio. In A-10 games, Harris is averaging 8.2 assists with a 3.73 A-TO ratio. Harris has four points-assists double-doubles and eight games with double-digit dishes. With six regular-season games remaining, Harris ranks 8th on the 49ersâ single-season charts with 164 dishes. His 6.83 assist average is third-best. The 15 assists vs. George Washington are the most by a 49er since Sean Colson set the school record with 18 in 1997-98 and the third-most by a 49er in league play.http://charlotte49ers.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/021809aab.html
That is amazing! The question is does he get any recognition from the A-10 at the end of the season? First team? Second team?

Harris has definitely outplayed preseason pick Chris Lowe, as had Aaron Jackson. Will be interesting to see if DiJuan is selected all-A-10. His stats say yes, but our record doesnât help.
Not a pregame story but didnât feel like starting a whole new thread. Lamont Mack is a pick on ESPNâs streak for the cash game tomorrow. The pick is who will school more points between him and Derrick Brown.
Has Harris been POTW this season?
Maybe we all should write a big green 10 on the back of our Whiteout shirts in honor of Dijuan. He is the man!
clt is quite impressed with the oâs coverage of the biggest college basketball game in charlotte of 2009.
Hey, just a quick question. Is the Whiteout still on, or no?

Letting the local citizens know the local team is playing a top ranked team on NATIONAL TV might boost TV RATINGS (something the Big East looks at) and might sell a few tickets too.

Oh my.... Stop the presses.
Man, I sure hope the trend of the Observer pregame article cursing the spotlighted player doesnât continue. Seems like itâs worse than the SI curse.

Cincinnati.com: Musketeers hoping to shake their recent road-game slump
What I find interesting (odd?) about pre-game stories is that the Big O basically does a profile of a Niner, not actually a story about the upcoming game. On the other hand, as with todayâs piece in the Cincinnati Enquirer by Xavier/A-10 beatwriter Shannon Russell, the focus is on the game and quite a bit is written about Lamont Mack. Just an observationâŚ
Also, on Eddieâs jersey retirement:

We are going to have to outrebound them, because we wonât outshoot them. They arenât an offensive juggernaut, but they take good shots and Brown is a pro that can create and make his own shots.
I bet Bobby would love to pressure them. They will turn the ball over to good full court pressure, but sadly, we just dont have the bodies to do it.

Interesting and informative.
The great thing about the article is Harris saying he isnât getting winded. Iâve never understood why a 20 yr old D1 Bballer gets tired.
Thereâs plenty of time to get a blow in the course of a game and if the coach or assts are doing their jobs, you clock watch and get the âextraâ time. IE- taking a guy out with 8:45 left in the first half so he gets the under eight timeout minutes as well and then goes back in with 7 minutes left.
That means the guy is getting about a 5 minute break and then come the under 4 and halftime. I think itâs fabulous that a player puts in the time and preps for games- major ups to Harris.
It will be interesting next year to see if we have the offensive options so he can take his game to a higher level and get some national exposure.
