The "you suck" quote is extremely unoriginal. Terps fans have been doing that for years. Why dont we create our own chants.
Well, letâs brainstormâŚ
Iâm not big on the you suck chant. Except for rivalry games. I would rather here something like âgo homeâ or âour house.â
As for some original chantsâŚhow about some chants for our players. Last year we had a chant for Eddie, how about a chant for Curt? DA? Coleman?
Maybe after every dunk by Curt we could chant something like Hither Hither a Dunk by Withers
DA is an easy one, just do DâŚAâŚDâŚA
Dumptruck is another one thats kinda rhythmic.
Against a team like Temple or maybe Indiana if weâre winning this year we could say Charlotte owns you (in reference to what would be a winning streak). A stretch by any means, but inventive.
Too bad itâs a rip off of the Yankees, which as we all know are a waste of space, but âHoosier daddyâ (please tell me you get it) for Mike Davis works. Probably a bit off-color though.

Hither, hither? If I ever hear our students chant that I am going to become a tarhole fan. It doesnât even make sense.
Besides, what dunks has he or anyone else had all season? I can recal one dunk by Withers on a lob but that is it.
Everyone likes to say how âathleticâ and âtalentedâ we are but, to the best of my recolection, we have about one dunk as a team this season. That is freakin sad.

the you sucks chant has never made any sense, ive never done it. I would never do it to NC A&T, its leftovers from the frats having lower level seats.

brainstorming is cool because even bad ideas might spark a good one. I like the ideas of calling out individual players. The casual fan might not know who âdumptruckâ is, so we gotta learn 'em. Iâve always kind of felt that Withers needs a nickname too. I hear the word beast a lot whenever someone on the board talks about himâŚlike âWithers is a beast at the boardsâ but it never seemed to stick. Maybe Iâll start calling him Beast Withers from here on out. Rose had Cornbread, Lutz has [I]The Beast[/I] :ticked: - I like it.
âHoosier Daddyâ is absolutely brilliant. BRILLIANT! Thatâll be great for the Indiana game 
Looking for an original chant, I scanned over some of the more popular topics on the board:
- Football Program âWE WANT FOOTBALL! WE WANT FOOTBALLâ - nah, the chant isnât positive to the basketball team. Maybe if they were still losing.
- Golddusters âI LIKE DYKES! I LIKE DYKES!â - nah, too Eisenhowerey. Plus, we donât necessarily like certain dykes.
- Disturber âWRITE IT DOWN! WRITE IT DOWN! WRITE IT DOWN!â - hey, that could work. After a big play everyone start yelling that. Itâs encouraging to our guys, distracting to their guys, and it will piss off Sorensen. I say do it.

I doubt Sorensen is at many games. We donât want to piss of David Scott, who has written some good stuff, but I doubt that chant would piss him off.
Also, the Temple game should provide a good oppotunity for some clever chants.

One poster said they spotted Sourgrapesensen in the press area. Judging by the David Scott article, I think a âWRITE IT DOWNâ chant would be enjoyed by Scott.
