I heard a slightly older Niner talking about the Michigan Elite 8 game, & how the UM people looked at the Niner fans like they didn’t belong there.
So one Niner asked them at the end, do you have Final 4 tickets? We do!
I thought that was hilarious!

We were sort of viewed as a Cinderella team, yet those familiar with college basketball knew just how good we were.

We had quite a bit of notoriety the entire year. Our game against Wake sold out the Greensboro Coliseum, and I know of some Wake fans that still consider that game one of the best non-conference Wake games ever played.

Something else… It’s not mentioned very often, but rumor has it that we had the best statistician in all of college basketball that year.

I heard Cornbread on the radio one time, and he said that the Michigan fans were taunting us saying “We have football!” He responded with something like, “You will have plenty of time to get ready for football while we’re playing in the Final Four.”

Found this from the Marquette Scout site. They say they offer a DVD of the game, btu I can’t find it. I’m guessing you have to have a Scout subscription?
