If my memory serves me correctly…that was our First season in the Metro after leaving the Sun Belt.
I can remember the T-shirts that were available after winning the Tourney…“The Metro Conference…it’s OUR Conference Now!!”

Tulane’s team that year was pretty good too. One of their best ever. Louisville got an at large too.
In case you’re curious, we lost to Iowa Sate in the first round of the NCAA tourney 76-74.

I believe that this is when Tulane had “The Posse”. Coach Perry Clark platooned five players in and five out and ran other teams into the ground.
I went to a Charlotte game at Tulane a few years ago and it is hard to believe they can recruit anyone to play there other than the obvious Bourban Street angle. Their gym is like an old, bad, high school gym. I bet there weren’t 600 people at the game. There were about 30 Niner fans there and we owned the place. The most distressing part of this story is apparently there are A-10 teams with worse facilities.

I have a ticket stub and a couple of pics I believe. I just have no idea where the pics are. A few memories that stand out. Henry sealed the championship game late with FTs. There’s a famous picture/video that’s often used with Daryl Devaul with a net around his neck. That was from that tournament. They served alcohol at the venue!
One thing I wish I could get, and it shows how diehard UL fans are, there was an actual song for the tournament. It mentioned every school in the conference and some of the prominent players (I believe both Henry and Jarvis were mentioned).

I’ve met numerous Louisville fans than can name more of our players than most of our “fanbase”, and many of them quickly state they wish we were in their league again.
