2008-09 schedule
FWIW

They did talk about us last night on Fox. They showed footage of practice and mentioned our trip to Canada.
News 14 Sports night also. They even covered our women’s soccer games this week. Yes, both of them.
I’m sure there is a legit reason why the Observer hasn’t run it yet.
Could be Mikes hold up in a Beijing prison or something and couldn’t get the story out. Just a thought.

I'm sure there is a legit reason why the Observer hasn't run it yet. Those guys get unfairly criticized too much.
 1. They either received the press release too late for today’s edition.
 2. They are hung over from all the effort they put into the Olympic coverage.
 3. They are gearing up for the last 2 races for the NASCAR Countdown to the Chase
 4. Panthers training camp

see, there are lots of “good” reasons. I don’t think we need to worry. They will look out for the school and do what is best for the Athletic Dept.

NOT

:cold slap in the face:

ok, back to reality. Can’t believe you expected to see it so soon. This is standard operating procedure at the Observer. I’m pretty sure they will acknowledge the schedule…sometime between now and the start of the season and of course, there will be Niner fans who thank Mike and Observer for the story whenever it runs.

The damage has been done. It is major damage…hell no. But a whole bunch of little things, like this, add up to the “out of sight, out of mind” perception that the general public in Charlotte has about Niners athletics. Reminds me of the Corey Shaylor story in the Spring/early Summer that ran in the “Neighbors of UC” section. Would have been a perfect story for the real sports page when you consider he was a local HS grad. But we continue to be stuck with a newspaper that is wedged too far up the ass of the ACC.

Note: Our schedule was on the standing/stats page of today’s paper, but I agree there obviously should be atleast a small story that hits the highlights on the schedule and the ACC schedule story was ridiculous, especially given that it didn’t mention our games vs. the mighty ACC! What a joke!

News 14 Sports night also. They even covered our women's soccer games this week. Yes, both of them.

News 14 is exceptional, they provide coverage of all teams and do it well…I live in Raleigh and no longer watch the local sports geeks…

Here’s a flyer on why they didn’t run it. They aren’t convinced the Davidson game will actually be on and are checking behind the scenes to see if that is the case before they run the story.

maybe already posted but o well i will post it anyway here is the offical schedule released today

Stolen from another thread

My 2 cents - What a long, stupid December it is gonna be.

Is it too early to piece together the television schedule?

4 games is long and stupid? January is combined in there…it wasnt separated like it shouldve been.

There are only going to be two home games in December and they both are against undesirable opponents, so yes, it will be a very long, boring December. At least we have Davidson…

Yep, I noticed the 9 games in January.

RWORKMAN understood what I was attempting to say. Take away Davidson, and the only games to look forward to are Long Island and Youngstown State for essentially an entire month. I doubt that there will be much to talk about on the board in preparation of those two schools.

This was an official press release from the Athletic Dept and no mention whatsoever in the Observer. Observer did run about 2 pages on the ACC schedule and did not highlight our game with Clemson or Maryland. They did list NCSU vs Davidson as a big one.

When will this run in the Observer???
ACC SCHEDULES RELEASED, PAGE 1

niner fans, read about your team’s schedule on page 8
.

Anyone have any idea about any of the away games being on TV?

We might get the Xavier game since Xavier has a broadcast agreement with Fox Sports in their area. Shouldn’t be terribly difficult to get it shown here as well.

Maryland game on Jan 3rd is on CSN (Comcast Sports Network), according to the ACC schedule that ran in our very own Charlotte Observer.

That schedule was great, wasn't it. I bet some basketball fans have already cut out the schedules and taped them to the fridge.

Don’t worry Lefty. I’m sure our schedule will be in one of Utter’s blogs. Besides, every Niner fan knows they can get their Niner news on this very site. (end sarcasm)

I’m pretty sure there will be plenty to talk about on this board in December, considering we are currently talking about these games in August.

Don’t know about you, but I totally expect that, in December, I will still be wondering when the Chancellor will state his opinion on football to the Board of Trustees.
