what a crock of crap
The respect was not there in CUSA, either. The difference was that we kicked some @$$ for most of our tenure there and never cared what the others tought about us. We just need to start doing the same in the A10.
True. Not sure why Lutz/Niners should expect respect from the A10 given the way we’ve performed. Like X said, start winning and nobody cares what others think.

CCT staff make their picks and Niners are 7th. All A-10 are:

Shamarr Bowden - All Rookie team
Chris Braswell - All Rookie honorable mention
DiJuan Harris - 3rd team
Shamari Spears - 3rd team

Two third team players, so they say we have two of the top 15 in the league, also two of the best new players
so 4 top players, what a team needs is 1. leadership and 2. balance and 3. coaching Let’s see where we end up, this is the season for no excuses

Dayton and Xavier among best non-BCS programs according to Jason King of Yahoo! Sports.

In other A-10 news, St. Joe’s frosh PG Justin Crosgile will be sidelined 6-8 weeks after surgery for a torn ligament in his left thumb, while Fordham frosh PF Brian Freeman is apparently a non-qualifier for 2009-10. The latter just another nail in the coffin for Derreck Whittenburg.

if lutz wants to keep his job. Charlotte better be in the top 3. NO excuses this year. the talent is high this year.

You underestimate Lutz sympathizers' abilities to make excuses.

1 - Charlotte
The rest who cares

Updated list to include Blue Ribbon (Niners 8th) and Sporting News (Niners 6th) predictions.
Updated list to include Blue Ribbon (Niners 8th A-10) and Sporting News (Niners 6th A-10) predictions.
Run, I’ve decided you are as valuable to this board as any poster on here. Good job. Thanks for the updates and for keeping everyone informed.

In averaging out the various predictions, the Niners rank around 7th. Will be interesting to see where Lutz & Co. finish when the official A-10 preseason rankings are announced next week.

BTW, finally got my copy of the Blue Ribbon 09-10 College Basketball Yearbook and the Niners are picked 8th. Too bad the writer for the A-10 section - Nate Crossman (Nate who???) - doesn’t know the difference between our Ian the hoops player and that other Ian the flute player!

Why is DuQuesne getting so much love? And before you tell me how good they are, who they have returning, etc.etc.–my response is, they are friggin’ Duquesne. Don’t tell me that high school gym can bring in players that are better than Charlotte’s.

Here’s my prediction;

  1. Richmond
    2-13. blech
  2. DuQuesne

Did everyone like my well though out break down?

14th might be a bit harsh for a team in the same conference as Fordham. Duquesne was 5 points away from an NCAA auto bid, made the NIT, returns 12 players, and has a nice facility being built across the street from campus.

Yeah, yeah. I know. They’re friggin’ Duquesne.

They will be well above 14, but they lost a lot in Aaron Jackson

Agreed.

Rivals has posted their A-10 preview (Niners 7th and Spears 2nd team)

COACH ON THE HOT SEAT Charlotte's Bobby Lutz. School officials have said it's time for Charlotte to be one of the top teams in the league. The 49ers were one of the top teams in Conference USA, but they've become an afterthought in the A-10.

Prediction: Shammari Spears 1st team all conference

I had to change Kevin to Chris Braswell, I don’t know why so many people think that is his name, I checked the student directory and his middle initial is L, if it was K, I would give these guys a break, but COME ON.

Also, I like a prediction that comes with a record too, the # of wins even adds up!

itsbraille49, Thanks! Added RTC predictions to top of thread.

BTW, I counted 40+ typos in that piece. Other notables:

Typo = Correction
St. Louis = Saint Louis
St. Joseph = Saint Joseph’s (the writer - a Philly guy - should know that!)
Levoy Allen = Lavoy Allen
Kenny Fraese = Kenny Frease
Aric Murray = Aaric Murray
Ahmed Nevins = Ahmad Nivins
Rob Lowry = Rob Lowery
Chris Moody = Chris Mooney
Francis Martel = Francis-Cedric Martel
Keven Parrom = Kevin Parrom

Wow! :wow:
