I came here to post the MGMT link…I listened to most of it, really unimpressed by what I’ve heard. The track Brian Eno is pretty good though.

I hadn’t heard the new Black Keys song yet, it is good.

i fell behind on yeasayers…just “discovered” them a month ago. good stuff there.
listened to all of the gorillaz album off of npr and only a few stood out, but nothing i’ve been going back to to listen to over and over.

been listen to Black Rebel Motorcycle Club’s latest a lot lately

This is really old but I’m addicted to it right now, and the world needs to know. It’s live Galaxy 500. Galaxie 500 | Tugboat (Live)

Ahh Galaxie 500… Good stuff. They’re from the era of Buffalo Tom and all those great Boston bands…

Did you ever get into Luna (kind of the successor band to G500)…? They were kinda the band that was good but just couldnt pull the following they deserved. They put out a pretty good swan song movie in 2006 called Tell Me Do You Miss Me.

Speaking of bands that dont pull like they should - The Hold Steady has a new one out May 4th. Here’s the album cover:

New single, The Weekenders, isn’t bad - http://buzzworthy.mtv.com/2010/04/02/exclusive-listen-the-hold-steadys-the-weekenders/

Though this may be my favorite THS video right now…

Sequestered in Memphis, the Sydney version

…reminds me of NA Jr doing the same. Wish I had video.

damnit craig, you’ve got me going back deep into my collection…

Guided By Voices - Glad Girls

Guided By Voices - Useless Inventions

BTW, and this’ll be my last off topic post - I saw this again on Palladia the other night, just in advance of the Neil Young concert flick, and I remembered why I was blown away by some of the stuff Gruff Rhys (Super Furry Animals) did on his solo record. What he does with this loop machine is incredible… guy is a genius…

or

gruff rhys - Gwn Mi Wn (Live) - Gruff Rhys - Concert For Teenage Cancer Trust.flv

That was cool. Kinda reminded me of Cirrus Minor by Pink Floyd.

Back on topic (2010) music… not saying I love this, but it is good chill out music. The kind of thing I used to like to listen to on the way home after a night out clubbin’…

Washed Out’s album was one of my favorites from last year. Hopefully I will be seeing them with Beach House in Asheville.

Hold Steady is quality, but I thought their last one was a little stale, a little too much like Boys & Girls in America. The first single from the new one sounds along the same lines.
been listen to Black Rebel Motorcycle Club’s latest a lot lately
Been listening to BRMC as well and hope they come back to Charlotte as headliner. Here’s something with original drummer Nick Jago:

black rebel motorcycle club (BRMC) - stop

BRMC - Love Burns was fantastic. Haven’t like a single thing they’ve done since, though I’ve tried hard.

JSYK, it appears this link has been broken (by Pitchfork I believe). Now it links to something else.

The one song I heard from Washed Out sounds like something I’d listen to from time to time. Not bad.

damnit PF…

maybe this one will work…

Admiral Radley - I Heart California

I rarely post in these threads, but I thought some of you may be interested in Desmond Myers from Statesville:

Nice blend of blues/jazz/rock/pop from a young guy with a good voice. He was previously a member of a band that won a local competition and then went on to win a national battle of the bands contest in California. I’ve noticed he has started playing The Evening Muse quite a bit and puts on a good show - definitely worth checking out.
