I’m not sure how these tournaments work - do you have to be invited or can you approach them with your availability to see if there is a match? According that that link above, Coaches v Cancer has availability (and no A10 teams), plus it would seem like a better option to join an existing event rather trying to host something ourselves. Don’t get me wrong, hosting would be great for us, but I wonder how many teams you would get here that are decent and would bring fans. Halton isn’t a bad size to host an event and would be more cost-effective than using Time Warner Arena.

Events like that consist of getting beat up on by a big school, then 2-3 games against scrubs (See: Duke; Elon, Yale)

If we can host an event (with Miami) we would get a game with the Hurricanes along with other teams. Being in an exempt event is important because it allows you to play more games, which, if you win them, is good.

Reverse of last years A10 opponents, as predicted.

I just have some doubts about the quality of teams we would get with this short notice and no history of holding an event like this.

Updated the First(er-second) post with Coach Major’s bombshells this afternoon. Correct me if i get something wrong, I got all of this second hand:

at Memphis on New Year’s Eave
versus East Carolina(location not certain)
Home against Miami; this could be a part of an MTE as Miami was reported to be interested in, which we wanted to do the week before Christmas. If we are only needing 2 or 3 more games, there are games we haven’t been told about as this puts as at 7 known opponents (out of 14-15) plus the 1 game in the Bahamas and an unknown date.

We are going to ECU again this year, but have signed a multi-year deal with them it sounded like.

Or did I misunderstand his comments? He said something like several teams pulled out so we had to replace thos games.

That was the Paradise Jam, same tournament we did in 2007-08. The only thing we know about The Bahamas, is that we were told that we would play there in some type of event, and that Louisville was possibly involved.

It’s a long term deal, so in the end this will be technically meaningless, just have fun on the bus. Plus it makes room for a home game against a real team during your senior year.

There had damned well better be a return. A one-time deal with any C-USA team is inexcusable.
