2012 Football Class
maybe this has been said, but couldn’t being apart of history by playing for the Charlotte 49ers first football team be a recruiting tool? (i know we had something of a football team long ago I was born)
I don’t know that will sell on it’s own necessarily. It may certainly tip the scale in our favor if a recruit is on the edge of a decision. I do think that all new equipment and facilities may be a draw. And those are factors of playing for a new team.

I don’t think that’s a good selling point honestly.

Every recruit at any school has the chance to be a part of history. Telling a kid you believe he has a chance to be a part of history at a well established program is a much better selling point.

Playing right away for an enthusiastic fanbase that has been dying to get football is a good selling point to guys who might otherwise be riding the pine at another school. It’s a chance to be BMOC, for a brand new sport - the most popular one at that.

New facilities probably appeals to a certain % of recruits as well, as long as they’re nice.

You guys are much more optimistic then me

I’m not expecting much from our 2012 class. The 2013 class will be the exciting one.

How many (if at all) walk-ons did ODU and Ga. State use to fill out their rosters for opening day? Just curious.

Dunno. A great question for their messageboard and I’ll also try to find their’s and GSU’s rosters during their first seasons of play and see what the class breakdown was, as well as the number of Juco’s and transfers.

Here’s some rivals links, to get a decent gauge on what to expect. I think a 2 star or even a 3 star is well within our range. Worth rejoicing, regardless.

UT San Antonio b

Georgia State (2009)

Old Dominion (2008)

A small sample of some of the more impressive signings. Take note of the offers/competion. Hopefully, Lambert/Mullen maintain ties with their younger HS recruits.

Good find survivor… they essentially stayed home to play.
