The question with these new rules or emphasis on calling stuff is will it be called in March? It always seems like they blow their whistles for all this stuff until conference play starts, and then all of this stuff goes away because “we can’t be extending the length of games” (even if a football game is taking place on the court).
When you think about where the game has come in the past 25 years, in the post, the rules today are exactly the same as they were 25 years ago. And yet we've allowed more and more physical contact to happen, and that can't be acceptable. And what you're seeing from the rules committee is allowing offensive players the freedom to be able to allowed what they're able to do within the rules."
Did this just flash into the rules committee heads? The only way to combat it is to call all fouls and quit letting stuff go. If coaches who play with over-agressive defenses know you aren’t going to call every foul, do you think they’re going to coach their players to guard without contact or off-the-ball holds? I don’t care if we have to shoot free throws every trip, call the fouls. When people start fouling out regularly then they may actually attempt to play clean defense. As soon as the networks start complaining about either the high number of foul calls or the games being lengthened because of stoppages to shoot free throws, then we’re right back in the same spot (year after year).

Yep. And “havoc” type “defenses” will again be allowed free rein to pummel finesse oriented teams into turnover machines that result in points for the other team. Yes, I’m looking at you, Coach Smart, et al.
