Just curious what the expectations would be (record wise, and CUSA ranking, etc) for the upcoming season in MBB. This is assuming we land Laron Smith or another PF/C in place of him.
Personally I would bet we win 20 games and finish in the top 4 in CUSA.
My expectations with the talent we have on the roster currently we should be top 4 in CUSA regular season, 20+ wins overall, and NIT. Id like to see our RPI in the top 100. I think those are resonable and attainable goals regardless of landing smith and/or another player.
The NIT catches a lot of crap, but at this stage of our rebuild I would be proud to play there, and if we have a chance to play in Madison Square Garden I will be there.

If we don’t make NIT, I wouldn’t be opposed to playing in the Vegas tourney. That would be a good selling point to recruits, they’d love a Vegas trip.
but just guessing right now I would have to agree with everyone’s comments so far, except that top 4 doesn’t mean NIT for sure. We’d either have to finish first in conference play, or do pretty well outside of conference. I would be very happy with making the NIT.

Love the subtle move with the Newberry game being N/A, I'm comfortable with us right around 22 although I would likely lean towards our win total being lower than that.
The only way we get an NIT bid is if we win the conference regular season and lose in the conference tourney. That’s not happening. Or we would need maybe 26 wins and that’s not happening either.

I expect 17-19 wins.[/quote]
Yep. That all sounds about right.
I’m really gonna hate losing at wake when we get screwed yet again by acc refs.

26 wins and we dance. I’m guessing 22 wins. I’ll say it again, win 2 to 3 of the big ooc games and we go dancing.
