We didn’t have any current Niners drafted, but 2 recruits were drafted this weekend.

Zach Featherstone OF was drafted in the 12th round by the Twins. He’s a JUCO that originally signed with NC State and has been at Tallahassee CC the past 2 seasons. Currently plays for the Gastonia Grizzlies in summer ball with a few other Niners. He’d be a Junior if he comes here and draft eligible again after next season.

Zack Smith is a catcher out of Eastern Wayne HS. He went in the 15th round to the Indians. Signed with us pretty early over ECU.

It is hard to tell whether kids will sign or come to school, but I think since Featherstone has already been to 2 schools, he will probably sign. I have no idea on Smith. If he comes here he will not be draft eligible again until after his junior year.

It looks like Zach Featherstone has signed with the Twins. Can’t find any details except for this list, but he is no longer on the Gastonia Grizzlies roster.

Zack Smith has not signed yet.

Eastern Wayne’s Zack Smith is still weighing his options between enrolling at Charlotte and signing with the Cleveland Indians (15th round, 452nd).

The deadline for players drafted to sign is tomorrow, July 15. Zack Smith still has not signed with the Indians.

Cautiously optimistic that we might actually get some good news…
