2018 Schedule

If want wins we better get them early.

Yeah this upcoming season is gonna be rough, see chances for Ws vs Fordham, UAB, FIU. We choked a 29-7 lead vs FIU, getting them at home I think that game can be winnable depending on how much they lost from this year.
Also UMASS should be a winnable game, they were down near the bottom with us last year.

2-10, I think we get lucky and slip past Fordham and catch a CUSA team sleep walking.

This is the best schedule we’ve ever had.

There are several games here that even if we sign an above average QB we don’t have much of a shot.

I’d say if everything breaks our way that could possibly break our way there are 8 winnable games. That won’t happen.

If we sign a GOOD quarterback, we could bowl. If we sign an average QB, 3-4 wins. If we don’t fix our QB issues the only team we are going to beat is Fordham.

clt says we will shock the cfb world and beat Tennessee.

We will be hard pressed to get 2 wins. I would say FIU would be the other but they should improve greatly next year, best recruiting class in CUSA so far.

2-10.

Lambert extended by our interim AD because his/her discussion with Phil leads to the conclusion that we’re certainly trending in the right direction. New basketball coach fired due to fan unhappiness with the football decision.

You would think by year six there would be a lot of excitement with this schedule release. A chance to beat App at home, hosting our rival ODU, and a road trip to Knoxville. Instead we get to watch lame duck Lambert rollout an unprepared team that has little chance to win.

We are not in a position as a program or a fan base to say we’re going to win any games, much less one. Zero wins on this schedule. Prove it. Fordham will beat us, App State will run the score up and might score 80.

Yup.
I find it hilarious the manner it’s promoted. It’s the old uncc special “look at our schedule we play some big teams” aka me too mentality, and just happy to be on same field, mission accomplished mindset. Meanwhile, rest assured nothing happening behind scenes to actually ACHIEVE equality vs our peers, much less be superior #49erway

1-11 at best.

We were REALLY bad last year, and I didn’t see an influx of talent to make much of a difference.

I don’t think Judy and Phil could have screwed up things any more if they had tried to.

There’s not much difference in winning no games and only winning 1 or 2 games next year. I think we’re going to suck and it will be one of the low points in 49er athletics when App dominates us.

Solid schedule. I like what we have lined up. Part of making this program successful is getting games people care about so kudos to the staff for doing that.

Now the issue I have, besides that we are terrible, is thenthree straight homes games to open the season. That is just brutal. For fans to give up three straight Saturday’s and fornthose coming from out of town, that is really tough.

12-0

clt says appy game will be at noon. They will melt.

There are other things i want to do with my free time too and I’m not really willing to give up 3 Saturday’s in a row, especially not for the product that’s being delivered.

It isn’t brutal if the product we put out on the field is good, sadly the product we are going to put out there will be hot garbage.
I can see us beating Fordham which will hopefully keep students energized going into the App game, I’m just afraid App will totally embarrass us and pack our stadium with its fans like Marshall did the first time we played them.

Gonna go ahead and file this one away under “Things no one would care about if we were good”

Several things.

  1. We will beat Fordham. As bad as we are, they can’t compete with us on the field. We start week one with the best record in the country.

  2. After that, it gets a little sketchy. I’m hoping we compete with Umass, ODU, and maybe WKU (they lose everyone and haven’t recruited well), and maybe FIU (we play them well historically). Maybe we steal one of those for 2-10. I don’t think we do any better than 3-9 and I’m concerned that we win four as they might get Lambert back here in 2019 and no one wants that. I also think that our redshirt freshman class is full of guys who could make us better. Maybe we’re not that bad, right?

  3. I imagine homecoming will be the October 13th game against WKU.

  4. We should sell out Fordham, App and parents weekend (which I would make the ODU game). After that, if we are terrible, attendance will be sparse.

  5. As awful as we have been, these are still my favorite six saturdays of the year. I cannot even imagine how much I’ll enjoy this if we were ever good.
