Torvik’s preseason rankings for C-USA (among all 357 D-I teams):

98 LA Tech
101 Marshall
120 UTSA

ALL D-I:

We’d better be a good sight better than #162. I think we need to be shooting for a top 100 finish this season, all the craziness of Covid aside.

Talked to Torvik earlier in the offseason, his preseason ratings have a lot of bias from the last 3-4 seasons, so Price’s last team is really weighing us down.

WOW! What a slap in the face! hope this all over the locker room!

This is hilarious and makes no sense whatsoever. Guess they will find out when they see us play.

Does it really make no sense though? Young is a stud but lots of question marks otherwise. Malik was a big loss. Not sure we have someone that will replace Bamba for this season. Robb was a decent role player.

We very well might be better than next year. I really don’t know what to expect because we will be relying on guys that didn’t do a ton last year to step up or new guys to replace lost production.

yeah but we also bring back shephard and the top class in cusa for the second season in a row. there are certainly question marks but at least on paper, we should be quite talented.

I don’t really question the talent, just the experience level. That my primary concern.

We’ve been consistently improving in RPI year over year. I expect us to make the jump and break the top 100.

The level we’ve been recruiting and the institutional knowledge of our system should make us a pain for teams to play.

Not that it’s the equivalent but it also took UVA two years before they started rolling.

i really like the level of athletes we’re bringing in. in 2021, we’re gonna be crazy athletic between cannon, garcia, berry, young, folkes. should be a great defensive team.

Until we can win two games in a row on the road I am not going to argue with anybody’s assessment of the team.

that’s def the biggest question. now is when we need to step up and at least beat the teams we’re supposed to beat on the road.

losing all those away game killed us last year…I didn’t remember /realize that we where 13-2 at home

IIRC we set a single season record for home victories last year. Rarely went home sad.

Certainly hope we can win on the road, especially with the C-USA proposal for league play for 2020-21. Really wish the conference would go to 20 games for this season so that everyone would get 10 home and 10 away. Otherwise, some teams will have a two game home advantage under an 18 game schedule. Of course, if you’re one of the 10 home / 8 away, then you’re probably not complaining!

From Goodman:

And from Rothstein. WKU, Loyola of Chicago, and Furman on this list.

Suddenly, this looks like a tournament we can win.

Should definitely give us a boost with Torvik since those four other teams are in his top 100.
