That 4 team field is way better than what was posted the other day. Does this replace WKU, Loyola of Chicago, and Furman? Or are we doing multiple “tourneys”
Does look like the MBI 2020 is no more unless the Tennessee and Penn State/VCU games are in addition to the former.
FWIW, here are the Torvik rankings for the tentatively remaining Myrtle Beach Invitational teams, as well as the Charleston Classic teams we’ve been mentioned with by Rothstein:
MBI:
46 Loyola of Chicago
55 Mizzou
95 Utah State
96 Furman
162 Charlotte
CC:
18 Tennessee
33 Penn State
122 VCU
Did the teams need guaranteed wins?

Just reading that Blue Ribbon has picked Tennessee to win the SEC with the Vols #5 in the BR preseason top 25.
So we going to decide on aggregate like European soccer?
I thought I would put this here rather than starting another thread. I am watching a Zoom call with Ron Sanchez and Tom Rinaldi of ESPN. Really good opportunity for Coach to spend some time with a heavy hitter in the sports media.
Coach told the story of the end of last season. The team was in shoot-around at the C-USA tournament when they found out everything was being cancelled, and they shifted the practice to try and make it more fun and memorable since this was how it was ending. The seniors all stepped into the circle and spoke to the team, and Amadu Bamba said (paraphrasing a lot) “I thought I was going to have more, but we should all feel really lucky for the university and what we have had. Enjoy your time together and make the most of it.”
They shifted to talking about the race issues in our country today. Sanchez told a story about when he was in college, heading back to campus from home in NY City and getting pulled over by a cop. It was pouring rain, and the cop asked if he could search Sanchez’s car. Ron said sure, and the cop sat him on the ground in the rain for 30 minutes while he went through his laundry and everything else you take when you go back to school. Finally the cop gave him his license and said he could go. It was an upsetting and eye opening experience. Today, when his players leave to drive to their family home he asks them to call him when they get there. He is sure they will get home okay, but he wants to know they did. We have a program, Uniting with GOLD (Growing Our Leadership Diversity), and they are bringing in speakers like the CharMeck Chief of Police, District Attorney, etc, and having difficult conversations.
Rinaldi asked Sanchez about his most valuable loss. Ron said most people probably think it was UVA’s first round loss to the 16 seed, but for him it was losing the opportunity to play in the conference tournament last season.
It was a good call, and part of the Chancellor’s Speaker Series.
Thanks for posting that.
Per Rothstein:
Sources: Conference USA is expected to soon officially announce a "health and safety" scheduling model for the 20-21 season. All league games will be Thursdays and Saturdays at the same location.

From official announcement:
I really like the 2 game series idea. Thursday/Saturday or Friday/Sunday. I think you will see a lot of that this year.
ESPN announced that the Myrtle Beach Invitational has been cancelled…
Winning 2 is easy, 3 is impossible. I like our chances.
Well, we will definitely see where we stand in the conference by opening with the preseason favorite Toppers.
Hate losing the games in Orlando. Too bad all parties involved couldn’t reach a consensus on protocols. Just another example of the “brokenness” of the NCAA.
What’s the latest on Covid and the team?
