‘According to the statement, “the individuals are in isolation with proper medical care, and the University’s contact tracing team is currently notifying any affected members of the UNC Charlotte community to begin quarantine protocols. All practices and in-person meetings for the basketball team have been suspended until all remaining student-athletes and staff are cleared through subsequent testing.”’ This was maybe a week ago. What’s the deal now?
From David Scott’s piece about our C-USA sked:

Good news is…if the bulk of the team has already contracted the virus this early…should be very little to worry about in new cases from our team postponing games going forward.
There are schools in both the Big 12 and SEC that are not in agreement with CDC guidelines in which those who have tested positive need to test again after 90 days.

This is ultimately what caused ESPN/Disney to scrap the Orlando MTE. https://t.co/fCmQhjLq1p

College hoops scheduling nugget: Tennessee is finalizing plans for a two-game, three-team MTE in which it will host Charlotte and VCU starting on Nov. 25, sources told CBS Sports.

Sources: Conference-USA is considering playing its league games back-to-back on Friday/Saturday this season instead of Thursday/Saturday for safety purposes. Games will be held at same location. ADs are expected to vote this week on ruling.

That’s how the CAA is doing it.
Tennessee hosting multi-team event on Nov. 25-27, with VCU and Charlotte. Tentative schedule, per sources.

Ha. Of course.
Let’s play a team that’s traveled and is projected the lowest to give ourselves an advantage, then let’s make the other two teams play each other while we rest so we’ll have an advantage in the second game, too.
Good event, but that’s transparent as hell.
Why wouldn’t the host do that? But… it allows for the visiting teams to play and leave without waiting a day to get more covid
simple solution: add one more team and one more day.
first thing I noticed was the extra rest the vols would get. hope they go 0-2
Source: This is now official. Conference-USA will play its league games this season on Fridays and Saturday in the same location. https://t.co/xoSnApoQdT

Agreed it sucks and agreed that the home team doing that is expected…but actually since every conference game now is a Fri/Sat back to back…this is what this year will be. Might as well get used to it.
More specifics from North Texas beat writer Brett Vito:
FWIW, was looking over Goodman’s list of MTEs and the Vols are not unusual in having a three team event. Below is a breakdown by numbers:
3 team MTE = 26
4 team MTE = 31
8 team MTE = 3
9 team MTE = 1
10 team MTE = 1
App Game is December 11.
If necessary, I will give our team a Covid pass as something that is almost beyond their control, but if our team is healthy and loses again to Appy I am for shutting the program down. Even a blind pig will find an acorn every once in a while, and last year they did. If they beat us two years in a row we need to give Halton to the Volleyball team.
