Mustang rally gives AAC hopes of more than one NCAAT bid:

Well, AAC might be a two bid league after all!

Watching USF come from behind at Wichita State. Didn’t realize Brian Gregory (former Dayton coach) is helming the Golden Bulls. Apparently, they are one of the worst 3P shooting teams in the country (24%), but they are red hot right now.

The environment for this game, and it isn’t even a headliner for the league, is so much better than CUSA, it’s not funny.

Probably Gregory’s last season in Tampa after a mostly underwhelming five years leading the program. Four losing seasons out of five - five for five sub .500 in AAC play - with a CBI championship “purchased” during the one winning campaign in 2018-19.

BTW, David Collins was the CBI MVP for that Bulls team. Same Collins now playing for Clemson who got tossed (and then suspended) for flagrant foul on Duke’s Wendell Moore this past Thursday night.

This is actually 2022-23 news. Preseason NIT used to be THE early season tournament but now seems headed into oblivion as did the Great Alaska Shootout.

Ron Sanchez!

Actually can’t argue with Medcalf’s choices for C-USA and most of the other selections as well. Definitely a number of good coaches out there.

Didn’t really know where to put this, but it’s both crazy and super positive.

Speaking of Memphis, I’ll give Hardaway credit for turning things around and most likely assuring the AAC will have two teams in the NCAAT. Tigers were dead in the water but looking solid now.

How they have more fans in the seats than us?

Highlights.

And one other thing: they played their tournament in Bojangles arena. We play in an AAU curtain tournament.

It makes me spitting mad.

The presentation at Bojangles looks far more big time than the low budget setup CUSA runs.

The Longwood coach has an interesting background. Former lawyer, 48 years old and looks like he just recently got into coaching. His first 3 years were pretty rough and all of a sudden they had a breakout year this year.

Somewhat similar to McDevitt at MT, though Blue Raiders got progressively worse from season to season the first three years after Kermit Davis left for Ole Miss. Of course, McDevitt was HC at UNCA before replacing Davis in Murfreesboro.
