clt says he would get more rebounds if the rest of the team didnāt run to the other end
Give Sanchez credit for the loss? Ok will do.
The team played a fantastic 2nd half. Too bad there was that daggum 1st half.
Wonder if Wake fans are like ours.
āYea, we won the game, but just barely. We should be blowing out teams like that. We LOST the second half. Where were the halftime adjustments? Man, if those guys could shoot free throws, we would have lost this game. Feels like a loss, anyway. Embarrassing!ā
When the best thing you can say about Sanchez is that wowā¦we lost but it was close this time. Thatās not good.
Was Threadgill hurt or did he fall out of the rotation? Francois looked good in his couple of minutes on the floor. He is a big body who can rebound. He probably deserves more PT.
The TV play by play guy said Jallow was dressed out and ready to go for the first time this season. Hopefully we see him in action Monday. He has a reputation of being a great defender.
Terrible first half. Great second half. Had a ton of fun at the game.
Really disappointed we came out not ready to play. In uptown against in state ACC team and we looked totally disinterested and unprepared. I think thatās a byproduct of Ronās methodic business like approach to the games.
Great to see some heart and adjusting for second half. Give wake credit down the stretch. When they needed a bucket they got one. We never could make that shot to get on the other side of the score. The first half of the App game and the second half of this game show what the team is capable of. So frustrating to see them not to play at that level more consistently.
I will give Sanchez, the coaching staff and the players a lot of credit for the comeback. If we can reach that level of intensity the rest of the year we can do some damage.
But the fact remains they were not ready to play the first half.
Only one person can shoulder that. The head coach. Now was it his fault or the players not following instructions and not buying in? We will likely never know but it falls on the head coach. Thatās what heās paid for and where the buck stops.
All that being said. This team has a lot of talent and still has good things to accomplish this year. They just need to rally!!
We are all so starved for something to hang onto, playing well and still losing is lauded around here. Sorry, Iām not gonna gush over a coach who is under .400 career, at .500 this season after losing a game at home to a non ranked team because we kept it close.
If thatās where yall want the goal posts, enjoy, live in that space. I will not.
I have been very antiRon on here but after for the first time seeing that he made an adjustment after the first half last night I am encouraged. Not completely happy but encouraged. If Ron can, himself, learn from that and carry it forward he can be a good coach here. There are still a number of things being done that drive me crazy but willing to give him a chance, in my mind, to prove himself going into conference play. Last night proved that we have the players to compete in CUSA, just hope we have the coach to get them there.
Normally, I would not post about being positive after a loss. However, this board was extremely quiet in the 2nd half. Why only post when the team/coach is not playing well?
Last night gave me some hope for the rest of the season. Sanchez needs to let this team run. We have the depth and talent to do it. If Sanchez posts a .500 record with this team something is very broken. I hope this game gives the team confidence moving forward. I donāt care who is coaching this team, I just want something to be proud of.
Because itās a terrifying thought that our fourth year coach might just now start figuring things out. He doesnāt have the luxury of just now learning how to do things⦠thatās what the first four years are for. We end up with a slightly better than mediocre season, Hill can justify keeping him, he loses all his good one year transfer players. And we have another terrible year.
Like⦠a third of the way through the 4th season we are .500 and our coach for the first time ever makes an adjustment (and we still lose) and we are celebratory? Time for new blood.
I, for one, am extremely excited to watch our next game. That second half team looked awesome. It was entertaining to watch.
This team could have quit and lost by 40. They battled back to tie and almost won. Sometimes it takes a few games for things to click. We have a lot of season left.
If we are quick to call out the negative, then we need to be fair and acknowledge the positive. We have a very capable team and coaching staff. I remain hopeful this could be a very successful season.
For me, I want to see a trend and not outliers. Iām a data guy. The second half was wonderful last night, but if we replicate last night through the end of the season⦠getting behind and still losing after a valiant effort, we are gonna have a pretty bad record.
After last night, here is our defensive field goal pct rank for the year. We are apparently hanging our hat on defense and in our 4th year of doing so. We were #318 prior to this game.
(There are only 350 in the list)
Thatās a good point.
Whatās the positive? This isnāt the first time we have played a good half of basketball in a game under Sanchez.
The next 2 games should be expected wins. Win and go onto the next. Winning against 200+ teams shouldnāt be celebrated around here.
Letās beat someone else besides Monmouth. Beating Drexel and then Jacksonville st coulda stopped some of the negativity on this season. If Sanchez canāt beat the wake, ark, Davidson,Toledo with this team⦠will he ever? Iām not talking about winning one of those games.
D. O. B. A.
Despite having real talent & depth this year⦠No matter how well we look in spurts⦠Heās not winning.
We rank 340 at his specialty. You canāt coach your specialty⦠You canāt coach. The record simply validates that further.
If we had not laid that massive turd in the Bahamas, the discussion of this season probably completely changes. 7-3 instead of 5-5 with a couple of embarrassing losses is a big difference.
But it also illustrates whatās wrong with this team. We played flat in 1.5 of those games down there, never played good defense, and we were just as atrocious in the 1st half last night. We arenāt going to beat anyone playing like that.
On the flip side, the one half last night and the first half against app and stretches of that Monmouth games were both much better.
We just are not consistent, except to the negative degree on the defensive end.
The good news is that we will find out all we want to from here on out. The next two games should be wins and then we have a favorable start to conference. I hope Sanchez proves me wrong, but weāre terrible defensively. However, if we can replicate the 2nd half effort the rest of the year, we can win a bunch of games. This is a major āifā though
