2021 Football Recruiting Thread

If Reynolds continues to play like he has the last 2 seasons I don’t see any freshman, short of a recruit like Trevor Lawrence or Sam Howell, coming in here and taking his starting job. Healy is great & I’m glad he’s here but last season we would have been lucky to get 2 or 3 wins without Reynolds. He has been as important to the success & improvement of this program as anyone. You just don’t take the starting job from a player like that & hand it over to a freshman.

We basically have no business starting a true freshman at our current level in college football. We just won’t get guys that are good enough and ready in their first year.

Therefore it is important to bring in guys while our current qb still has at least a year left. To not recruit a qb because we already have one would be disastrous. Let them learn their first year. Get them in the game when it doesn’t matter and then let them compete in their second year.

Does anything make you happy?

I don’t think Reynolds is a reason to not recruit qb’s.
Everyone is a blind side hit from not having a qb and you can see this season that Reynolds hasn’t run as much as he did last season. I’m glad Don is on the roster and is getting a little pt.
Clemson has a five star nfl future an as a backup. We should absolutely get the best abs (and talent) as possible in here.

Exactly.

To build on this point, it’s better for the program to have a couple players in the QB room competing for the starting spot when Reynolds leaves.

Not sure what you mean. I love Reynolds. Everyone insinuating him losing the starting position because we sign some QBs. Just making a point that just bc we’re signing doesn’t mean he’s going anywhere or that they’ll beat him out

clt says that is serious production value. Welcome aboard!

Per UNT beat writer Brett Vito:

Highly regarded Denton Guyer offensive lineman Knox Boyd appears to be on the verge of announcing his commitment. North Texas has offered, as have its C-USA rival Charlotte, New Mexico State and Louisiana-Monroe https://t.co/I6W2igSs1Q

Not a complaint, just an observation and question : are we building a team or a church ?
JK!

Further, I don’t care. Want good kids who can win games. Hope their faith is real and strong and helps us get to the next level.

Enrolling early.

I am shocked that more kids are not doing this. HS football is over for most of them. School is from home for many, so there is no social component. Starting college a semester early gets you into the weight room, and lets you start making a place for yourself on the team. You have a semester of classes behind you when the other freshmen arrive. Smart move.

Agree. Really short, strange season is all that awaits these kids in the spring. I can see holding out hope in other sports for what it’s worth

I hope I have this guy in the right class. Looks like we have a new commit based upon his profile:
