One has five straight winning seasons and in year five is nationally ranked, 21-1 and reeled off 20 straight wins and is in consideration for National coach of the yearā¦the other is looking to finish mid-pack at best and has gone 4-6 to start Conference season #5.
And yet weāre toldā¦patienceā¦it takes timeā¦parents love himā¦heās the guy.
One coach is doing what is expected in year 5 the other is scheduling cupcakes and making excuses.
It shouldnāt be this hard Mike. Look at FAUā¦in our conferenceā¦that made a coaching hire at the same damn time. THAT is what we want from youā¦not patience and pillars.
Not only that but fau is hindered by issues we dont have. They have no history, facilities or support.

FWIW, wouldnāt exactly call FAUās OOC sked a murderersārow of opposition. Includes two non-D-I teams, including a D-II that defeated FAU in Mayās first game as the Owlsā coach back in 2018.
That said, will be interesting to see if FAU can hold on to him. McCasland surprised everyone by sticking with North Texas, so who knows.
Difference isā¦their cupcake schedule isnāt a reflection on the team and coachā¦proven by their 11-0 start in conference play. He has recruited better and coached better and has his team 11-0 in year 5.
Our cupcake schedule was purposefully put together to mask a sh!tty job by our coachā¦proven with his 4-6 record in the same Conference in year 5 by comparison.
An easy schedule is one thing but when itās done intentionally to save a lame coachās jobā¦thatās when Iāve got a problem. Especially when itās happening at my school.
Just tired of hearing it takes years of patience when we have an example of how it can and should be done staring us in the face in our own damn conference.
Not going to argue Mayās surprising breakout season after a mediocre first four years in Boca. Still, I agree that the three intentional cupcakes on our sked are a bit much.

With Texas Tech (11-10, 0-8 Big 12 w/ another loss looming tonight vs Iowa State) in complete disarray, wouldnāt be surprised if McCasland ends up in Lubbock next season. Served as DOBO at TTU (1999-2001), where he also earned a masterās degree and met his wife.

Not to argue that Ron is great, but your argument is bogus. Iām sure there are coaches who were hired the same time as Sanchez who have done worse just as May has done way better.
Yeah there was one hired the same year in the state, ECU hired Dooley and fired him last year like we should have done with Sanchez.

Ron has loaded up on cupcakes this year (333 Non conference schedule) to pad his wins yet we are still struggling to be a mid pack cusa team at 13-8 (4-6 in Conference). Is that bogus?

How many of them have worse conference records than Sanchez both cumulatively after 5 years and currently in year 5 and are still employed?? And how many of those have an AD that preaches a standard of āCompeting for Championshipsā as the expectation?

As some one said earlier now is the time for FAU, they have to build on this with no historical fanbase, small gym etcā¦
The money is there in Boca, more so than most places, growing fast and building out everything people have in NYC/CT there, more so than anywhere else right now (airports, rail, hospitals, schoolsā¦). So now is the time, they are going to have a hard time keeping the successful coach but can throw some money at the program, to see of they can keep him.
Palm Beach county for example is almost 50% larger in population than Mecklenburg county just one of the many compelling statistics for that area.
Per Goodmanās interview with May, latter said he isnāt much of a beach guy. (Sort of āinterestingā that there doesnāt seem to be much info on Mayās personal life. Apparently from Indiana and is an IU grad.) Anyway, assuming FAU continues this run into the Big Dance, May is going to get offers.

I love defensive football. I can enjoy watching pitchers duel 9 innings with a 0-0 score. I hate watching boring defensive basketball, especially if my team consistently is on the losing side
