POTWs for Week 3:
Week 4 honorees:
Way higher at this point than years past. Need to get into top 40 or so to have a chance at an at-large.
Not gonna be a lot of wiggle room there. It helps that there are several teams currently in the top 100 in our league. But the NET replaced the RPI with exactly the same intention (and mechanical purpose) as the original formula had. FAU is going to see that #11 Net slide down further and further as the season progresses, even if they keep winning. That is as intended, and we all know why.
That said, I think CUSA can realistically dream about an at large this season. First in a long while.
clt says Judy is running cusa like a well oiled machine now
C-USA is an eternal one bid conference. Maybe we can dream of at large bids in the AAC, but there is no chance with our schedule that we make the Big Dance without winning that multi-court, trade show, AAU style tournament in Denton this March.
Since the expected A-10 dynamic duo of Dayton and Saint Louis has pretty much imploded in OOC, C-USA getting an at large not so outlandish.
I donโt really believe in the one bid stuff but I will say the Southern Conf deserved at least a couple a few years ago and didnโt get a sniff at the second bid.
Itโs a stretch. Letโs see how it plays out. FAU looks to be in the best position for an at large, but even they would probably have to make the CCG in Denton to pull it off, and theyโd have to have a top 4 record in conference play.
Definitely been a while since C-USA had multiple bids. Southern Miss last to get an at large back in 2012 at the tail end of the Larry Eustachy era in Hattiesburg.
CUSA wonโt get but one bid. Canโt leave out a 15-15 acc, big10 or sec team.
Bingo. This will continue to be a 1-bid league. A 9th place ACC team will get an at-large over a 30-2 CUSA squad.
Realize that the NETโs โsecret formulaโ favors the P6, but with the ACC and Big East underperforming, plus the aforementioned meltdown by the A-10 heavyweights, still think there is a chance for some surprises this season.
clt says the acc is poop. All at large bids will go to big10 and sec
Realize Belmont so far not up to their usual standards during this debut season in the Missouri Valley, but still good win for MT in Music City.
UTSA is definitely the Louisville of C-USA!
