Probably because the customers can’t get there. Traffic is so bad in Boone it’s just impossible to move around. It takes forever to get anywhere.
They really overbuilt the town and the university.
App State should be about 5 to 8 k max.
I had the misfortune of having to attend graduation there last year and I have to tell you it was hell. It took forever to find somewhere to park. It was so far away that we had to take a bus to the arena, and the traffic was so bad it took the bus forever to get to the arena. There was no traffic control to speak of. It was an unorganized mess.
Compare that to the graduation ceremony at Charlotte a couple years before. We zip in and quickly park at a location near the arena. A short walk away. Great traffic control and we have only a short wait to get out of the deck.
Boone simply is not positioned to support App state at its current size and it sucks to visit because of it.
On this note, Kings Mountain HS are the mountaineers too. Their colors are black and yellow too. But I don’t see where they use the appy mascot logo. They use a KM on their helmets, website, etc. Maybe they got wind that using the mascot logo was not a good idea.
A lot of HS borrow from pros and college - I know I have seen versions of Seattle Seahawks, Green Bays G, Chicago’s C, FSU’s arrow, Apps A, Georgia’s G, Clemson’s paw print and more
I’ve seen the exact Carolina Panthers logo used by a HS out west somewhere. I’m sure there are others. Don’t think the nfl harasses HSs over their logo. Yet.
Besides our game tomorrow, the College basketball slate Saturday is freaking ridiculous. Probably the best day of the season until the tournament starts. Look at this slate!
