I still like Charlotte, but Boise does not look like the same team they had last year. So far this year they have not been shooting the 3 well at all. Their only win is against Washington St. which looks like a good win. However, Washington St. did lose to Prairie View A&M also.
To reiterate again in this thread, this Boise State team missing key pieces from last year’s MW regular season and tournament championship squad. Broncos were picked preseason #3 but looking like that may have been a bit generous. Definitely not on par with AP #17 SDSU.
We get it…
Theyre not a good 3 point shooting team. They hit above their average but had 2 desperation 3’s at the end
Winning is cool.
Ron’s wife told him she’s not moving.
We’ll face at least twice one of the key pieces of BSU’s 2021-22 team when we play WKU. 6-8 PF Emmanuel Akot is averaging 10.3 ppg and 5.7 apg for the Toppers so far. He originally transferred to Memphis but had a change of heart and landed in Bowling Green.
Every team loses something. We lost our top 3 scorers who scored 60% of our points last year. But right now, we are building leads early and not letting the other team back in the game. Playing good team offense and defense. Hopefully this team continues to grow together
After reading a BSU fan message board, I am reminded that last year’s best ever Broncos squad - 27-8 (15-3 MW) - got off to a slow start in OOC play before plowing through the MW, including a 3 game sweep of perennial league power San Diego State.
Enjoyed all the comments about getting beaten by a “bad” Charlotte team!
Guess they can find solace in the future:
Not a good offensive night overall but did a good job on D and didn’t let them have hope after we stretched lead. Love tenacity and strength under the basket of our guards.
Good win.
Still wonder who will be our guy when game is on the line. Think it will be Bryce but not sure yet.
Just now seeing this Sports Chat preview:
See that Tulsa’s season opening 66-63 loss to Oregon State came after the Hurricanes squandered a 19 point lead in Corvallis. Followed that with a 85-79 home win over Jackson State, so the dominant victory over Loyola Chicago last night something of a surprise. Anyway, I expect a tough game tonight since first year TU coach Eric Konkol is quite familiar with us.
Happy with the win, happy to be 3-0…tonight is a new test. But I like what I’m seeing so far, so I’m cautiously optimistic about this season.
