Detroit Mercy definitely a more well rounded team with the recent addition of Gerald Liddell. Apparently there were some eligibility issues that had to ironed out when he transferred to UDM, which is why he missed the first seven games of the season, including the first matchup with us. Pretty sure Coach Davis is ecstatic to be getting 18.5 ppg and 14.8 rpg from the 6-8 PF in the four games heās appeared in. Certainly makes the Titans a team to be reckoned with in the Horizon.
I am so glad someone else saw that. It was getting ridiculous. I donāt think Jordan even got away with it that much.
They hit a 3 to tie or take the lead very late. There was a screen and they pushed the defender WAY off - was recoiling about 10 feet before he took the shot. Thatās a foul 999 times out of 1000, just not yesterday.
When I think of pushing off reminds me of DeāAngelo Alexander. Had that down to an art form and donāt recall that he got called for it much, if at all.
I get that the zone isnāt used as much these days but itās the first defense kids are taught besides a man 2 man. It isnāt like they look up and see a 2-3 and think what the hell is that? My 6th grader knows a 2-3!
Very true! He was the best at that. Reading that name brought me back to when I was on campus
Speaking of the way back days, but I could have sworn that we ran Zipper late in that game. We didnt take the shot, but we ran our Guard off a baseline double screen and hit him in the corner.

We are out scoring our opponents by 8.4 pts per game. We have not done that since 76-77 when we outscored our opponents by 14pts per game.
Question for those that were upset we lost to Detroit Mercy earlier this year thinking we should not lose to a team in their league. Did yesterdays game make you feel better about the loss? I know, we should not have gotten blown out but I donāt think the L is shameful.
Ask this again after the year is over but Iām going to assume they are a 200+ team. We shouldnāt lose to 200+ teams so itās a bad loss in my opinion.

Going to hold off judgement until after the season and weāve gotten a chance to see what kind of team they are, but the way we lost was bad enough.
Getting blown out by them was terrible.
Iām glad we were able to avenge the loss, against an even stronger version of their roster.
Titans are #163 per latest NET.
The lopsided loss in the first matchup even more head scratching since they were without double-double machine Liddell.
Iām gonna bet they end up 200+
Not really. We just completed a very tiring and competitive tournament two days before. We had to travel to Detroit and play a day before Thanksgiving. Iām thinking, not only were we tired, we were probably not focused enough, or a least a little distracted.
Glad we were able to do the things we needed to do to get a win in the second game.
Losing to Detroit Mercy or any other Horizon league team should always be considered a bad loss, especially a 21 point blowout, we are heading into the AAC next year and our standards should be significantly elevated, our litmus test for success is NOT Detroit Mercy or any other Horizon league team, we will measure our success on how competitive we are against the top echelon in our conference this year ( Florida Atlantic, UAB, Middle Tenn St, Western Kentucky, North Texas, and LA Tech ) and future AAC powers next year and beyond
Overall, yes. Margin still stings but the loss makes much more sense now that I have seen them in person.
I was there Saturday and think the team gives a good effort.
We need to run plays to get Milicic more looks. He looks by far the best player we have that can get his shots. We need to use him more, he can be a special player if we would use him correctly.
