If winning the conference and making NCAAs isn’t enough to make you happy then I feel sorry for you, because you may let your desire to be miserable over ride the positive emotions of winning and our return to relevance. I know we have been beaten down but don’t miss out on the fun part of the turn around.
As for the schedule, yeah I think it was partly to shore up Ron’s tenure but I also think it has something to do with where we are. Teams that suck but are not absolute guaranteed wins are tough. No bigger program wants to play a team that has a bad rating but also could beat you. It’s a lose lose for them. If we can turn the corner this year it should help scheduling in the future. We will also step up in league which will make those elusive at large bids a little easier to come by, which should change OOC strategy. It all starts with us winning the games that are put in front of us, regardless of if that team is good or bad - and so far this team this year has done that.
You’ve hung in there this long. Try to enjoy some winning.
This guy is a lost cause NWA. Probably best to just ignore him.
He’s going to be ‘that guy’ that is pulling for us to lose just so he can jump on here and tell everyone about it. I don’t have the energy to deal with that misery. Life’s too short to be miserable all the time.
I am not the guy who wants us to lose. I am the guy who is sick of us losing and tired of fans pretending all is well when their horrible basketball coach is the lost cause.
Most can see what appears to be improvement from last year and are enjoying beating teams that we should. Most sensible fans are cautiously optimistic about conference play.
I’ve been pretty hard on Ron in the threads but they are winning right now and I cannot take that away from them. Glad to see them winning and having some fun, there’s been a ton of losing the last 15 years. Hope they keep it up. Would like for March to matter again.
The 63 NET rating for non conference with the quality wins over Boise St and Davidson is pretty much job done, despite however much I bitched about that schedule preseason (I will just speak for myself though I wasn’t alone). If we had at least kept Detroit Mercy game #1 close, I suspect we would be close to top 50 NET and that’s about as good as we could have ever expected this season. I feel like that’s the only game where we really dropped the ball. One dud and the rest of it was taking care of business and protecting home court.
Conference play will end up deciding our fate, but for a change our OOC was most certainly not a boat anchor on the league. Quite the opposite really.
Also, several of those schools like Boise, Davidson and App will probably pile up decent win totals in their leagues after playing challenging non conference schedules. That will help us too.
