Last season we played a bad LA Tech that started their third string QB verse us and he looked like Joe Montana in his prime against our defense. We didn’t force LA Tech to punt until garbage time towards the end of the game. Until our defense shows me something different I’m convinced we are the worst team in FBS. New Mexico State and UMass might be just as bad but I have a feeling they would light up our defense too.

So so true. We need help on defense. I hope Healy is calling everyday to get answers.
I don’t want any of NMSU, they were competitive against Nevada and UTEP. We’ll see when we play UTEP how close we are. UMASS I’d feel pretty good about playing.

I’ve been crunching the numbers and I’m not sure that realistically we’ll ever even compete to be in the top half of a conference with the current regime ever again.
And how many years does it take in football after a new coach is hired to allow his recruits to make an impact? 3 years right? It’s not like the cupboard will be full here. We will continue to suck for some time unfortunately.

The portal has changed that quite a bit, but yes, whoever takes over will be inheriting a difficult situation.
