2022 49er Football Season 🏈

Yeah when we change football and basketball coaches it needs to be proven guys either winners at lower level or guys that are dropping back that win at G5 level or a older retread. This finding young untested guys thing hasn’t worked.

I’m just not confident we can beat anyone right now (including FIU) since we have made some really bad teams look really great so far this season. . If we indeed lose to FIU or even squeak out a win and Healy is still kept, then we are stuck with him the remainder of the season (at which I will probably check out for the remainder of the season by staying puke drunk).

I wanna know what has happened to Calvin Camp and Victor Tucker. Tucker hardly ever gets targeted anymore and Camp is on a milk carton.

“We hear Healy still has the support of the right people around the program, and the remainder of the schedule isn’t a gauntlet,” Feldman wrote for The Athletic. “Getting to three wins isn’t unrealistic, but after the start this team had, it would really help if the nation’s worst defense started to show some signs of life.”

I don’t wanna quote the entire article, because Hunter deserves the read, but this was an important detail:

For starters, Healy is currently under contract through Jan. 31, 2026. If he’s fired after the 2022 season, his buyout would be approximately $1.515 million.

$1.5 million ain’t bad in the grand scheme of things. I would guess we will look to pay our next coach in that range each year if they come with experince.

The program’s best class ranked 71st in the nation in 2020, but Charlotte finished 108th and 114th in 2021 and 2022, respectively. The 49ers’ in-progress class for 2023 is ranked 129th nationally, per 247Sports.

1.5 will be offset by his next job as well. That won’t be another G5 HC role, but a FCS role would provide some financial relief for us.
