Seems odd for a school that has had such a drastic drop in enrollment.
I stand corrected. I just looked at the sun belt membership timeline and they are listed as joining when we left.
But I swear we used to play them all the time and would have put money that we were in conference with them.
Clarification. We were conference mates but from 76 - 80 according to the membership timeline for sunbelt. But I was referring to 87 - 92 when I was in school.
I swear I thought we were in the same conference for basketball during part of that time!!!
Sounds like they are getting desperate for retention. Grasping at straws.
We saw the news about Xavier looking at football due to student population loss and male student retention.

UNO was a charter member of the Sun Belt, so we were conference mates up through 1992 when we joined the Metro.
No., UNO left the Sun Belt in early 80s, iirc…definitely NOT there through the late 80s.They came back to the SB after we left for the Metro, in the early 90s though.

Many in the Tulane AD office are breathing a sigh of relief today, I tell you what!
For every UCF story there are several UNO like stories where they just had bad luck and many factors kept them from getting football.
I feel so thankful to have our team and for those people who worked their butts off to get the ball rolling.
Thank you Judy Rose for fighting for football all those years…….

This ECU-Cincinnati game is excellent. 27-25 Cincinnati 2:26 4th. ECU on thé Cincy 44.
Cincy holds them and will win barring disaster. Regardless ECU os trending up.
