Bowl games, unless they are for playoffs, should be at regional places that the fanbase can realistically go. I think for many G5s and the non brand name P5s it can be tough. Smaller fanbases that have a bowl game sprung on them near the holidays is a tough one to pull off for many folks.

That’s what surprises me about the Mayo Bowl, I’d have thought State would have been able to fill up the lower bowl by themselves being so close. Too you could just take a long weekend for New Years and hang here in Charlotte or go back to Raleigh for the holiday festivities.
That’s got to be disappointing for the organizers.

charlotte is a niner city so it isn’t a surprise none of the locals showed up. if the terps were playing us it would have been a sold out crowd.

At least on States part probably feels like a letdown after where they thought this season may go.

Interesting. Duke went from losing to us last season, to a 9-4 record and a blowout bowl win over ucf today. Amazing one year turnaround.

Not crying over a Tarhole loss but that improbable interception followed by the Drake TD bomb were definitely SportsCenter highlight worthy.
