I wouldn’t worry to much, early word is our AD’s looking at former Tennesse assistants he’s worked with already. Rod Lanier at Georgia State, Justin Gainey and some other Tennesse top assistant. None are inspiring but Dooley was due 1.25 million this year so we do have money to throw around. Hopefully Marshall or some coach way better than that calls and inquires about the job. So far it’s the 7th highest paying job out of the 21 open. Highest non P5. 3rd highest paying on the east coast or can be. Hopefully some coach proactively seeks out the job and gets his attention before he can screw it up with those type guys.
BTW word on the street is Lutz really wants our job again. No clue if he will get any interest but he’s sought it out each the previous 2 times it’s been open and interviewed when Lebo was hired. Apparently he’s pushing again.

Lutz does want to coach. Would hate to see him at ECU, but would love to see him coach again.

That’s our 247 guy reporting it and he’s got great info usually. I think we could do worse but I hope we don’t go there personally. He’s been out of coaching a long time and the game has changed a lot even in the last 5 years. He’s not even really been recruiting in years. Our guy said he has offered to take less money and invest the rest into good assistants though. He should have got the job when we hired Lebo, might would have still been here.
Seeing Lutz back in Halton as ECU’s coach would be painful.
Lutz may be looking for a job anyway after reading that Ole Miss alum Mike White could make the move from Gainesville to Oxford.
For real, talk about another hit to the gut after we find out our AD doesn’t seem to be interested in having a team that is top 150 or can win a post season game. This board would blow up if Lutz get’s hired by ECU. Mike Houston and Bobby Lutz as the ECU coaches when we start playing them regularly in the AAC in two years… lord help us all.

Yep, and it will be even worse when Bobby brings ECU to Halton and beats the piss out of RS’ team.
