2022 Week 1 - William & Mary @ Charlotte, 9/2 7:00 PM ESPN3

I respect the opposite of your opinion

What we are seeing in the ECU/NC State and APP/UNC games are exactly what we dont have, HEART, the desire to win, mental toughness, competitive fire, the never give up mentality, and what is really sad is that William and Mary had those attributes as well, we need to recruit players with this mentality and character

Good one

We were manhandled on both lines by an FCS team. Especially in crunch time during the 4th quarter.

We simply do not have the players and that’s due to poor recruiting.

It blows my mind that we can’t put at least a mediocre defense out there. We are looking at another year with one of the worst defenses in the country.

I’m not a big fan of the idea. I would rather let healy use his best roster to see what he ends up doing in turns of turning it around or not. then whether he stays or goes after that than I would rather still go into next year with an open qb competition than having williams think he’s guaranteed the starter spot. I really believe there needs to be a major effort in upgrading the qb next season. either through the transfer portal or in landing a strong high school commit for next season.

who knows, if healy’s let go and we can then land a guy like frost or statterfield maybe that guy can then bring a few disgruntled kids who want a fresh start with them through the portal.

clt says navy lost to a fcs team at home.

Iowa almost did the same

I know it was William and Mary, but QB3 should at least be QB2 now, and with QB1 out hurt again, he played so damn well that he should be given a shot at QB1 until he fails to measure up. He may be one and done, never again to play like that, but he earned the next game opportunity. He was accurate, poised in the pocket under pressure where even possible, and that long run was no accident. He found whatever gear he needed and I have never seen one of our QB’s hit 0 to 67 that fast, or anything like it. Dude is a starter in my mind, until he isn’t. We need guys believing the depth chart DOES NOT MATTER. When you get your shot, it’s your job to lose. Otherwise, you end up with s8ft quitters like Foster, who still thinks he’s a big shot

One of the scariest things about last night was what do the coaches see in practice that makes them think foster should be ahead of williams on the depth chart.

clt says if Reynolds plays last night, we win.

You don’t get hit if you are a qb at practice. Foster has the height, the weight, the legs, the arm, but is soft without heart. His last play was a fumble because football freakin hurts, and you can’t be soft without heart to play on fbs level. Reynolds is not soft, he is fragile, but he is tough as nails; a winner amongst few others.

I watched Foster get taped up when he got the finger boo boo. He was throwing well enough, if he had the want to, toughness, and a never quit demeanor, he would have at the very least, given it another go on the field. This was his shot at taking QB1, and the finger boo-boo was enough for him to throw in the towel. Hell, I saw him catch a throw one handed with the bad gf and without even a hint of pain. How bad could it be?

One of the reasons we’re so soft is there have been certain players primarily transfers that haven’t had to compete for their spots. Doesn’t matter that guys are much better behind them on the depth chart. Players knew that foster was clueless after one week but coaches always made excuses for him. And it’s been that way across the board.

What team are you watching? Reynolds is not always hurt.

I think he was told his finger hurt to bench him. He was passive and ineffective

No. Williams played really well

I love the guy, but Chris is always getting hurt. He plays hurt, and plays well hurt, but I stand by what I wrote. I am not saying replace him unless it is earned by Williams. I have no problem with Reynolds at QB. Williams has just earned a shot, in my superior opinion

Foster was the whiner about the finger. Saw it and heckled him. I am here to heckle losers, so take note

absolutely love your energy

Sorry but not cool heckling our own players.

Agree that Williams should be and has to be QB2 now. But if I am Healy and I know that my seat is getting REALLY hot right now, I am starting Reynolds as soon as he is ready to go. It is his best chance to save his job. If he goes to 0-7 (no chance for winning season… I know that sounds silly right now) and that is entirely possible but I pray it doesn’t happen, he should go ahead and start Williams. Still gives him five games of experience.

At this point, the W&M game is history and we can’t change the outcome. There was a lot that I sat and watched Friday night that I did not like. The lack of heart and pride by SOME players on the sideline was infuriating. If I am head coach they would not see the field this Saturday. When you are getting drilled by an FCS team, laughing and dancing on the sideline is not acceptable. If that is the culture sign me up for something else. Our fundamentals are awful. Defense has no discipline at all for the second straight season.

Williams looked very promising. He made some great plays out of nothing but also made some understandable errors. I doubt he was given a lot o time with the ones this week or prep time. He and a few others give me some hope for the future. I refuse to give up on this football program. I may be crazy and I hate where we are right now but I love this university too much to quit now or ever. But yes, major changes are needed. At this point, I want to see improvement. There is plenty of room for it. Go Niners.

My takeaways from this weekend are simple. We are poorly coached and may get beat by 70 next week. Big 10 team looking for style points is a recipe for a mauling.

But more than that we are so far behind App and ECU that is comical. That’s actually the more concerning part of the situation.

Can you get kicked out of the AAC before you actually join???

And oh yeah, to those that were upset that App got 3 home games to our one, really? You don’t understand that now? Did this weekend shed a little light on that for ya???
