2022 Week 2 - Maryland @ Charlotte, 9/10 3:30 PM Stadium

Looks a wet, rainy, dreary day at the Rich for this game. I guess perfect conditions for the setting for what’s about to unfold on us. Just flat out sad. Are we cursed?

Comments are disabled. Probably a good idea.

These types of press conferences are absolutely useless. Either post the entire press conference or don’t post them at all. I don’t think anybody needs to hear that Maryland is a good team (no coach is ever going to say the team they are going to play sucks); or that it will be a good test for the team; or how much of a fighter/leader a player is. Captain Obvious left the building a long time ago.

Perhaps - but the people that have been and are currently in charge have continued to dig a larger hole into the irrelevant abyss for our revenue sports.

I feel bad in some ways though. I don’t want to divide the team, but I know a bunch of these guys really are trying hard. Do any of us doubt DuBose? Or Tucker? Or Reynolds? Etc etc…

It’s just the defense. It’s extremely problematic. I don’t know how they can fix it without letting us bring in a midyear class - the only program allowed to.

“The amount of investment and time it will take to get it right”

I think Healy has had enough investment and time to beat fcs schools and at the very least to be competitive in conference games.

I would love to hear more about a focus on execution during tough practices. A team can “come together” all they want but if you are missing assignments, displaying poor fundamentals, and commit frequent penalties you aren’t going to be successful. There’s more to football than the psychology and the emotions. At some point in time you have to do your job well.

The penalties have been crushing and many of them have been from a lack of focus. We have gotten punched in the mouth in both games though so that may contribute to that but it still can’t happen.

Is it gonna be rain all day or on and off?

Looks like a soaker of a day if the current forecast remains unchanged.

What is the over/under on penalty yardage by our DBs this Saturday?
I’m guessing at least 4 pass interference penalties.

Maybe the bad weather will slow down Maryland’s passing game.

Welp, he’s making it a special year all right.

While I am an East Carolina graduate, my best friend went to Charlotte so I follow you guys from a distance each season. I hope that as long as I remain respectful I can get some reasonable and welcoming responses in return.

I just wanted to say I know what you guys are going through at the moment, and it’s not fun. I remember watching Scottie Montgomery’s defenses from 2016-2018 and they were horrific. As soon as your offense makes one mistake on a turnover or has to punt it feels like it’s ball game. I remember thinking four years ago our program would never recover, so I did want to point out what you guys have going for you.

If Healy isn’t the answer, you guys will still be in an excellent position to hire a new coach.

You’re moving to the AAC (more money, step up in competition, better exposure)
You’re making investments in infrastructure with your stadium expansion (I like your concourse setup already, and I’m sure they’re going to improve on that)
Plenty of coaches will be available. Satterfield, Neal Brown potentially, Skip Holtz would probably listen to an offer and he’s familiar with N.C recruiting. You could also take a look at Mike London. Sheridan beat N.C state twice when he was at Furnan and they hired him and that ended up working well for them.

It may be a rough season, but I think you guys are in a much better position now to hire a proven retread than where you were when you hired Healy. Excited to have you guys in the AAC moving forward next season, will be nice to have another in state team in the same conference.

Shame about the weather for that inaugural class’ halftime appearance Sure to frizz up Judy’s hair.

They should reschedule that event. They probably can’t because of how hard it was to get all the honorees here for it.
