Jackson, the center, looks like he can be truly special. Athletically on a level we have not had in a while. Welds spoken young man as well
Graves has stepped forward like 5 spaces. Shot it well. Ran the offense well and I. Eliās e zero turnovers. Has to stay out of foul trouble. Same with Folkes.
Pushed the ball more than we have seen in years and coach said on post game he wanted to see more.
Rebounding was strong.
Maine is a good, experienced team and we handled them well. Livery will be a test.
DJ was really impressive in the post game interview as well. As you said, he is very well spoken and actually addressed specifics related to how we played.
Solid overall game. Some Mental lapses for sure and the half court sets were still a bit painful but we pushed the ball and played faster. Maine isnāt a bad team just a decent team they hung with a few P5 programs last year I beat BC I believe. For our first game I am pleased. Win easily and could have been even easier if it for the end of the first half and we still have kinks to work out in. Iāll take it.
Maybe I was seeing something different, but Maine was not good at all. Small and missed
a lot of good looks.
Happy with the team effort.
My observations:
Threadgill can only hit shots when the clock is expiring and something is up between Folkes and coach. Kid can play, hopefully that gets worked out.
Ball seemed to get stuck up top a lot on offense.
For the Love of God why is Jackson playing so many minutes ? My opinion which yāall might not agree ā¦.as much as I love the kid he is not producingā¦put folkes ā¦youngā¦hell put ROLF in that spot and letās prepare for the future ā¦
Patterson gets a lot of minutes but he plays defense
Student section was STRONG. Showed and were into the came. New seating certainly helped and pushed me to 104 which was great!
Both centers looked good. They played the high ball screen well on defense and with the pace we played, it was good to have two bigs to alternate so they stayed fresh.
Guard play for the most part was strong. Silly fouls on Folkes limited his minutes and I liked the tag up defense overall. We felt deep tooā¦.playing 8-9 guys and still had others on the bench that didnāt get any minutesā¦.another good thing if Fearne is going to want more pace and that pressing defense.
Really liked Fearne on the sidelines. Animated and working the refs but also coaching the bench along the way. Good first win and with that crowd, it was really fun. Winning is fun, but winning in Halton with a decent crowd is always a blast!
I think all that was going on with Folkes was foul trouble. Took him out after 2 quick fouls in the first and then i think he had a couple more in the second half. Was probably also a good game to get Berry some minutes.
JT is a glue guy. He may not be an offensive juggernaut, but is a leader on the team who is tasked to defend the opponents best guard. He is 100% hustle.
