Coach does not sugar-coat and baby the players if his press-conference is any indication. I like that.
FOLKES!!! This is the dude. Feel like every game he has an unreal highlight. Plays way bigger than he is. Also really loved seeing us have size again down low. Jackson was a breath of fresh air and plays with tenacity down low. Looking forward to seeing us against Liberty on Friday!
That was dark.
A win is a winā¦first game, Iām encouragedā¦loved the effort and pace and there seems to be some depth. Too soon for me, anyway, to know what sort of team we have, there will be mistakes along the way that Iām able to tolerate but I just want to see progress and team chemistry develop during OOC. Liberty will be a test for sure, but thatās all it will be IMHO. Win or lose, keep learning to get better.
Iām cautiously optimistic. Before the season started, I jokingly told a colleague that a great season would be winning a conference tournament gameā¦my expectations expanded a little bit.
Was thinking the same thing. I immediately told my buddy these guys look more ripped.
Good to see.
No pillars!!!
Once you shift your expectations on JT you will be happy with his game. Last night I realized he is my new Butter Johnson. Butter would come in and do something and look amazing but then disappear and I would keep thinking why canāt you do more of that? Fact is that really isnt his game. JT doesnāt typically force things, lets the game come to him and defends well. Does he get too many mins? Maybe, but as other say he might be the piece that is helping all the other guys play together. I donāt think JT will ever be the player we were hoping (Jobey like) but he also isnāt Ian Anderson.
Two different coaches see something in him that fans donāt seem to see.
In general, coaches are smarter than fans.
He is no butter johnson. Butter could undoubtedly, make some awesome plays and some boneheaded ones. I rarely see threadgill do anything outstanding plus he lacks the size and skill of a guy like butter.
I am not equating their skill levels. Just that when Butter came in I expected X he never lived up to that. JT is similar. We expected something and that isnāt the player he has grown into. That is ok. But it impacts how people see his game, just as it did Butter.
But Butter never got 38min per gameā¦nor should he have.
Thatās the one thing they should have in common and donāt.
Braswell did not suite up. I believe he and JT will split minutes when Braswell is in game shape.
clt wants JT to shoot more
Anyone know what type of injury Bras has? Will he be able to play on Friday?
Anyone know why Rolf didnāt get any playing time? I had high hopes for him when we signed him. I thought he might be like a high energy, tough, utility player that could shoot. You know that person every team needs to do the dirty work.
Believe Fearne said in post game that he was nicked up and might be able to go on Friday vs Liberty as others have said in this thread.
Amazing to me how fans at times think they know exactly who should be on the court and who shouldnāt. No one on here is at practice, knows the true roll a player plays, or could actually successfully coach a college team even though they think they could.
Certain guys offer more than just points and big plays, it is more they do exactly what is asked of them, make hustle plays, and therefore get more minutes.
What do you think message boards are for??
