Yeah, I initially wasnāt happy Threadgill switched to guarding #4. He just seemed way too fast for Threadgill to guard. But Threadgill hustled and his length caused issues. Turned out to be the right call
clt says the beer lines moved much quicker last night, but there was a pretzel shortage at Haltron
Yeah I wouldnāt want Threadgill on him all night but his defense was helpful during the comeback. Combined with the pressure on the inbounds every time we scored took them out of their rhythm and helped us claw back.
Planned to make the game, but was feeling under the weatherā¦at 35-15, I thought about turing it off and going to bedā¦but something made me stay with it and I watched something special. But please Niners, letās not make going down by 20 a habit, Iām oldā¦itās not good for my health.
Tulane will be a real testā¦Ron Hunter teams play exclusively a tenacious zone D, are usually good from 3pt range. In all the time he was at Georgia State, I can probably count on one hand when he went man-to-man or something other than zoneā¦Iāve not watched any Tulane this season, but I imagine itās going to be a very difficult game to win, on the road, against a quality team that just beat Memphis.
I penciled this game in as an L before the season started, captial L after OOC finished, but now this Niner team has me believing itās truly 50-50 (would feel better if it wasnāt on the roadā¦oh well).
clt says the uab chat page was a good read
- they comment a lot about pattersonās hips
- envious of the haltron crowd and noise
- think they are more talented, but poorly coached
- would prefer we win the AAC over fau and memphis
- Yes
- No
- Canāt think back that far
I think itās tough to top Big Phil in that time frame, but I would say Jackson is on a great trajectory and could well take that title.
Phil
Mike Thorne
Uchebo
Haslim
Bamba
Khalifa
Iād take Jackson over Phil Jones
Iād take his offense, but Phil was about the break the block record. Need to see more before Iād put him about Phil.
Dont think id put haslim on that list. Good list otherwise
Bamba was really good for us. Wish he had more than 1 year
Was just making a list of recent players who played some at C. Presence on the list is not an indication or me thinking there were good or bad, and that wasnāt any type of ranking, just names as they came to my head.
Left off some players like Braswell, who while playing some at C - spent most of his time here at PF.
Gotcha.
Over the last 20 years I would say we have had some quality big men and we have had above avg point guard play. What we seem to have lacked and are still lacking is a really good 2. We just havenāt had that off guard.
Wowā¦has everyone forgot about our monster post player Kelvin Price ?
Guy was a beast among boys !
Canāt make it a habit of getting down big. Waited waaaay too long to get out of the man to man. Gave up a ton of dribble drives in the 1H. Got to adjust quicker.
That said, helluva comeback. Jackson was big, Igor hit some big shots and Patterson was really good late.
We had a couple of breakaway layups that we didnāt cash in on. Almost like they slowed down to load up and flush it when they coulda just laid it in.
Kelvin was before Curtis. The question was best big man since Curtis. Iād certainly put Kelvin, Demarco and Cam on that list of course with Charles as well, if we go back further. Even Iti was solid.
I think it was basically Curtis was the big man for the last team that made some noise and is Jackson the best big man we have had since then.
What a night
1st, Halton was FUN and LOUD again. it was so good to see the usual suspects that used to be there everynight. Even better to see a raucous student section. That was the best Iāve seen the students since they were moved to the baseline. No offense to any recent grads.
2nd, UAB seems to have had our number forever. What a way to exercise a demon.
3rd, Lotta golf left, but Fearne is crushing it. We have a shockingly easy AAC schedule, but he is really making the most of the situation. Not ready to extend, but he sure is making it more difficult than I thought it would be.
4th, Holy horrible officiating batman. How does a huge game in a good league get that crew???
5: Get your tickets for ECU fellas. should be a big crowd.
I was worried we might come a little flat after the big win over NT. It was nice to see us adjust and recover to get another quality conference win. In postgame coach spoke to the importance of players practicing with the same level of intensity as we saw last night. I like the guy and our current trajectory.
Millicic was apparently re-enacting the phantom foul call after the game for Matt & Trevor and they were laughing because they saw the video replay and Igor didnāt touch the guy.
Another thing I like about this team. They play through even the refs screwing them.
