Love this team. Not the most talented but very well coached and they believe. Fun to watch.
Nit picky observations: (great that I can nit pick again over all out disgust)
Love DJ. I actually feel he is an upgrade over Ally. BUT Dude, you are the biggest strongest dude on the court - act like it! Go up fast and strong. He oftentimes hesitates before going up, attempts one last dribble, or tries to lay it in. Catch, go strong to the rim.
Coming around on JT. His shot selection can still be infuriating but his defense is tops. But a favorite saying from the late Gil MecGreggor - never leave your feet a passer. He does this WAY too often which leads to turnovers when the D collapses.
Mullet-less Reiber is looking better. He got smoked down low against NT but looked really good yesterday.
Agree with all of your points except; āWe have a shockingly easy AAC scheduleā
We have played ranked FAU among the 4 of the top 6 teams in the conference. Not sure how that is shockingly easy. The AAC has as many teams in the top 25 as the vaunted ACC.
When the players feel like the coach has their back with the refs, they can focus on playing ball. I think part of the problem with all of our coaches since Bobby is they wouldnāt work the ref, Ron or Major would just clap and smile at the refs. That was one of the things that Phil absolutely hated about Bobby and I think it showed in who we were hiring.
So glad CHP is gone, dude was a disease for our sports and school alike. Since Gaber has taken over you can tell students are more involved on campus and the school as a whole takes more pride in itself.
The little things matter and you can tell she likes details.
Observations from last night:
JT came in and played great Defense. Game changer when we needed it.
Reiber gets a haircut and becomes a basketball player. Great Hustle last night.
Someone lit a fire under him. Didnāt seem totally lost on defense.
Really wish we could depend on Braswell to hit some 3ās.
Milicic needs to work on defensively not letting guys blow buy him for layups.
Anytime he has a good look from 3 he should take it.
Looks like Dishon has lost some weight - Moves better.
Patterson left it all on the court, great game.
Refs let both teams get to physical in second half. Lot of no calls down low.
Was worred another Tulsa situation was brewing.
Fearne has the rotations working. Donāt change anything.

Maxwell was by far the best of this list.
DJ has potential to be one of the best of he stays.
He is improving every game and finding his legs. Played a lot more minutes in UAB game and finished strong in the post.
clt demands a vegemite samich and fosters option at the tavern
Canāt believe clt let this glaring omission goā¦

I know weāve played some good ones early, but the league intentionally and purposefully scheduled the projected top teams against each other, and the projected bottom teams against each other.
FAU, North Texas, SMU and UAB have all been good, but make no mistake about it, we have an easier path moving forward to a title than most schools in our league, and especially the ones that are competing for top in the league. We are through the gauntlet, which is awesome. Outside of Memphis, our remaining AAC opponents are not of the caliber of many of the teams we have played thus far.
Iād add USF X2 and Tulane to the list off good opponents left in addition to Memphis. Still though the point is taken the schedule does soften down the stretch with 7 games against the lower portion of the conference.
Now obviously we can lose to anyone but things are shaping up nicely for a sustained run.
On a side note Iām hoarse today, been a minute since Iāve been that way the day after a conference game haha.
Phil could shoot better but in my opinion DJ is tougher!!
I get where you are coming from. Unfortunately I donāt think there is an easy team in this conference this year.
I do agree that Tulane and Memphis are by far the toughest challenges left
It is crazy that 4 of the top 6 schools in the standings are CUSA 3.0 schools.
Just contemplate, only losing Braswell and Threadgill on this team for next year (baring transfers), If we can either recruit from high school or portal a couple of nice shooters things can be very rosy! Need to give Fearne the head coaching title NOW so he can go after the roster he wants and rule AAC.
We are setup for a very nice couple of seasons if we can retain this roster next year and add a shooter or 2. Was looking at a Tweet about the most veteran teams in the country, and while we arenāt at the top this season, next season we absolutely will be. Thatās usually huge, especially if you are coming off a solid previous season.
One thing I didnāt talk about while I was on the high last night was about how we use(d) Dishon. Fearne, as he usually does, took him out between the under 8 and under 4 TOs to rest him until the last 4 minutes. Which is fine. But we put him back in with 4:07 to play, and I donāt know that we ever went back to him for the rest of the game. Iād have to watch it again - maybe UAB was just tired of him beating up on them and did a good job denying him position and entry passes. And Iām certainly not upset with the result. I just thought it was odd that we didnāt get the ball to him in the post given how he made them go to their 3rd string center because of all the fouls he was drawing.
Coach Fearn understands the post up game and how to coach big men. Seems the game as a whole is trending back to that. He is a master at getting his players in their best position to score especially in the 2nd halfā¦.Jackson, Patterson, Graves, Millicic, and Folkes.
Dishon took over the uab game. If he can learn to finish more consistently we are going to be really tough to beat.
Threadgill has another year cause of Covid.
I had a dream last night that Brice came back and filled in most of the Braswell and Threadgill time with Threadgill spotting him off the bench.
That would be a deadly team.
I just grabbed my ECU tickets and yea thereās only 3 lowers and the center court upper levels are 2/3 gone already. Looks like thereās been some movement on the GAs too. I wouldnāt wait till the last minute on this one, we beat Tulane (or not) and this could be a monster crowd.
