Another first time meeting.
Caleb Stone-Carrawell coming back to Halton in this one.
Just reading about UVU in The Almanac and Stone-Carrawell one of 11 new players for the Wolverines. In addition, new coach too in Todd Phillips following Mark Madsen getting hired to fill the Cal vacancy.
Some clarification on new UVU coach Todd Phillips - he was the AHC under Mark Madsen and promoted to HC when Madsen left UVU for UC Berkeley this past April. First D-I head coaching position for Phillips, though he did spend 8 seasons as HC of Salt Lake CC, where he won the JUCO national championship in 2016.
How good are these guys? We going to win, are they better than Liberty?
UVU is virtually a completely different team from the one that went 28-9 last season, won the WAC regular season (15-3), and made it all the way to the NIT semifinals in Las Vegas, where they lost 88-86 in OT to UAB. Eleven new players plus two holdovers of which only one was a real contributor off the bench.
Niners favored by 5.5:
Each one of these has the Niners favored but no agreement on the line.
clt says jobey with the not so subtle shot at ron early
Now I’ll have to watch it later to hear it. Well watch it on the app. I’m one of the few here.
Nice 1st half. Plenty to work on. Berry is getting exposed with his defense. He really needs to improve over the next few games before conference play. The team looks a little more together, but you can see they still have plenty of work to do to mesh together. Lets see how they come out to start the 2nd half. They struggled coming out of the half last season.
I like the defensive wrinkles Fearne has added with picking up full court and trapping in the half court.
Substitutions really threw off our excellent starting rhythm.
Double digit lead preserved by Jackson.
Agreed. It bleeds off an extra 6 to 8 seconds that they don’t have to defend in the half court.
