Seems to be more home and home OOC games across D-I this season. Georgia State has already played Little Rock not only twice but did it back to back as well! Would think this is part of the bigger problem of scheduling non-conference foes for those outside the P6. First, AAC decided on 18 league games instead of 20. Those two extra OOC games aren’t translating into P6 opportunities - with the exception of FAU and Memphis - and there are a number of non-D-1 matchups in the AAC after one total all of last season. And then there’s our OOC, which includes a D-III and is only 12 games instead of 13 and, of course, the home and home with the Hatters.

Why would they name the university after a type of hat?
Because when the guy who invented the cowboy hat - John B. Stetson - makes a generous donation to what was then DeLand Academy, you show your appreciation.

No way. I was joking. It’s actually related to the hat. That’s cool. They should change the mascot from the hatters to the mad hatters.

Off topic: I’ve been to Deland lots of times and Stetson reminds me of Davidson without the creepy feeling. Their school colors are very similar to ours. It never occurred to me to inquire about the origin of the school name.
Deland gets tourists and is a neat little town.

Welp, a creepy feeling is hard to explain or justify to another person. In my case, I find them excessively preppy and feel that about half their fans are Lovey and Thurston Howell clones.

Oof, FAU annihilating Liberty by that much suggests we’re bad. On the other hand, some of the teams we beat are winning, so maybe not good, but not that bad. Mixed messages.
Hopefully Duke takes all their frustration about losing to Arkansas out on GT before they play us.

It was liberty’s first loss of tge season. Liberty beat fellow AAC conference mate witchita state by 17. We arent good but using liberty as tge proof of that is silly and dishonest
