Walking on campus I’ll see some of the football guys here and there. You can definitely tell they are on the team solely due to their size… I think we have the physicality part covered, just need to mesh well as a team, which will be determined on Saturday

The score Saturday will have no bearing on our score in subsequent games, especially later in the season. I bet you love fantasy football. Many of our guys are loaded with talent, but have not really produced at more established programs. Some of them are akin to reclamation projects. 0 star walk ons Chris Reynolds and Alex Highsmith out played lots of paper champions. These new guys at Charlotte don’t need to prove to anyone they are 6’6”, 255 pounds and run a 4.6 40. They have to prove they will wildly use those talents to win games as Niners. With the coaches they have around them, it’s reasonable that some of them will be better and more certain to win game situations in week 6, than they are in week 1, and better in a bowl game, than in week 6. But if fantasy football gives you the excitement, you probably wouldn’t understand that winning is all that matters and if they do that, the stat sheet and box score do not
Seeing the captains listed makes me wonder if we will go back to honoring players with the #49 jersey each game again. The past two seasons we have honored Devin Kiser, who sadly passed away last year.
I thought it was a unique tradition and one of the few that we have. Hopefully it will continue.

Let the mind games begin
I for one will be stressed until we win Saturday.
We pooped the bed before against FCS teams and I’m not taking anything for granted.
I am not walking into the stadium thinking this is going to be a walkover. I’m walking in HOPING it will be a walkover.
Until we prove ourselves we have to expect tough games against ALL opponents.

Maybe we’re taking a “bring in the heavy artillery” strategy Saturday? Close game? Bring in our “stars”, if not, keep them healthy for the Maryland game.
There are a lot of names either not listed or listed further down the depth chart than I believe will be represented in PT, unless we are trying to get snaps for certain guys.
The one thing that stands out to me is CB # 2. I really couldn’t tell you how good any of our CBs are, but Fagan is a tad smaller than Biff seems to prefer (he made me tion of how big WR are getting during Niners Live). I also wonder if Al-Ma’hi Ali would have been starting at one of the 2 CB spots if he was eligible. I honestly don’t know. We get so few reports out of practices.
Bottom line is that the DBs are almost a complete turnover from last year’s roster that was so bad / thin that we converted Groulx to CB. So if we get even average mostly competent play out of that group it’ll be a big improvement.
What will Biff say if they only win by one on Saturday?

No way any presumed starter sits out.
If they play it straight the starters should play at least 3 series or more depending on score.
