Typically, itā€™s probably best form to wait for game week to post a game preview, but 1) SC State is playing on national TV tomorrow night in week #0 - great chance to preview them, and 2) itā€™s finally football season!

Anyway, here we go:

First, our chance to preview our opponents against Deion Sandersā€™ and Kaā€™Tron Evansā€™ former program in the MEAC / SWAC Challenge tomorrow night:

For future opponents this season, I may try to include Phil Steele preview summaries, but I didnā€™t get the FCS package to do SC State.

Just a friendly reminder anyone and everyone is invited to the Normbulance tailgate. If you donā€™t have a tailgate to go to or you donā€™t wanna drag crap out you are welcome to join us. If I donā€™t know you, doesnā€™t matter - just a Niner I havenā€™t met yet.

Complimentary pre game toast about an hour before kick off.

We always have extra beer if you need a few and we always have extra food if ya need a bite.

SC State causes a fumble on one of the first plays from scrimmage but JSU recovers.

And JSU scores on a big run like 2 plays later.

Still 7-0.

JSU banged a FG off the upright and fumbled deep in their own of the field. Other than that they have mostly dominated play.

SCSU has a big RB that I like a lot. He is a problem.

Their pass blocking is bad. Really bad. And I donā€™t think their QB has a feel for the game yet either.

Iā€™d stack the box and make him beat us.

If we give up 15 pts to that offense I will be badly disappointed.

I donā€™t think Biff ball is going to be putting up 40+ on a regular basis, but we had better shut their offense down. They have 1 good playerā€¦ that big back. Stack the box and shut him down.

Win by one is fine with me. I expect more, but is always the minimum requirement. Anyone expecting an entirely new team of guys to play like they have been together 2 seasons already, or like they have played 6 games already, should prepare for some problems. They could lay an egg, but sweat out a win, then play a perfect 2nd game.

If we donā€™t win by 3+ TDs and control the line of scrimmage then Iā€™ll be concerned and will rethink going to Md. SC at got manhandled if we canā€™t do the same against that level of talent itā€™s a bad sign of whatā€™s to come early in the season
