2023 49er Football Week #12 Charlotte vs Rice 11/18 2:00 PM ESPN+

I haven’t been among the Trexler bashers, but i have to say i have had it with him at this point. He is SOOOO inaccurate with his passes, its hard to believe no one on the roster is any better.

Totally flummoxed how we could play this badly against this team after how we have been improving.

Beyond frustrating.

I can’t believe one of our two other QBs can’t at least do no worse.

He is walk on talent. Coaches put all of their eggs in the Jones basket and it failed for them. I am a little concerned that no one else is getting run. Maybe the coaches don’t want anyone to know they made a mistake if someone comes in a plays well. If we had a serviceable QB I think we have 2 maybe 3 more wins.

My concern is this staff’s eye for QB talent

Biff spent very little time thinking about QB in the offseason. He still thinks it is 1978, you can have a power run game and win games 10 to 6.

And Biff was use to way more talent than opposing teams in high school coaching

Don’t know if it would have helped, but we did have a commitment from Bennett Meredith before he last min. flipped to Purdue.

7 yards passing on the season.

Not going to lie, a part of me wishes Biff quits at the end of the season. Non-competitive at home against Georgia State, Navy, FAU, and Rice. Those aren’t powerhouse teams. 63 year old coach learning on the job.

This entire team is a total $hit show. That includes every aspect (coaches, players, and AD). I’m tired of the experiments. The funny thing about history is that it repeats if you don’t learn from it. I don’t want cheap hires. I don’t want experimental hire. Just not worth it anymore. My money will NO longer be directed to the AD with no specific targets. FSL’s - done. My money will be sent to sports that seem to actually know how to function (and that ain’t football)

I want to see what Poggi can do in another offseason. I would like to see some decent success over the next 2 to 4 years and watch Osborn take over when Poggi retires.

Rice is one of the worst rushing teams in the country and comes in and puts up 250 + on us. Bad company my ass.

It is a bad sign on your coaching staff when each week there is a new problem in scheme or execution and your only consistency is in personal fouls and dumb unforced errors.

That was a back up RS Freshman QB for Rice and we have no one on our staff that is even close to making the throws he just completed or running the offense the way he did. Same with Tulsa QB and one more I am too pissed to remember.

My biggest fear is talent evaluation with this staff.
Walk on Rugby player starting at tackle, walk on center snapping to a walk on QB handing off to a walk on RB. WTF. How many players in the portal are we going to have to bring in AGAIN this off season!!!

Mike Hill at Half time talking about bringing a bowl to campus every year. How about we go to a bowl every now and then instead. Are we a marketing / PR athletic department or one that wants to win at revenue sports.

Without the City of Charlotte we are basically an NAIA program with our leadership. Need to start proving ourselves and quit hiding behind and relying on the City of Charlotte and the diamond in the rough narrative BS I am tired of.

Post game analysis:

The offensive deficiencies, especially with the injuries, was expected, top three running backs out, most consistent wide receiver out, walk on backfield, but you hoped to see innovative wrinkles in the offensive game plan that could score more than seven points against the 95th ranked defense in FBS

Our ā€œstrengthā€ is supposed to be run defense, we just gave up 240 yards rushing to a team that we knew would have to rely on their run game due to injuries at the QB position

What we witnessed was a team that had a bowl bid at stake versus a team that under performed all year and packed it in for the season a game early

I know that it takes more than one recruiting cycle, but we need quality depth at all positions, injuries are part of the game, and we need to be able to rotate players that are ineffective or exhausted without losing a competitive edge

Good. I hope he’s enjoying his frozen ball sack.

Wow. That took long enough. It was always obvious

Yeah, right…Mr. Kenny Montana to the HOF guy…you clearly know qb talent evaluation…btw, you apparently dont understand that you can think a player isnt very good but still not bash him constantly.

He is correct. Ivey and Jones either step up or get stepped on. That is life.
