This is actually a time when the normal rhetoric would have worked better. Here is what I would have hoped for:
“With so much of the team coming back, we thought it was a great opportunity to keep growing as a team. It gives us a chance to reward our players for their hard work and get a jump on our move to the AAC and the goal of a conference title.”

The CBI is Hill “sending in the clowns”; intended to be a diversion from another debacle.
Just reminded that this is the first season as a D-I for Southern Indiana. Apparently the 4-year transition period that disallows either NCAAT or NIT participation does not apply to the CBI.
Little trivia. Jeff Mullins recruited 6’9” center from Michigan. Was only here year, maybe 2. Maybe couldn’t play at Div 1 level? Transferred to what is now Southern Indiana. At one point, and maybe still does held school shot block record at SIU.

USI was a pretty successful D-II program with a number of national individual + four team championships (baseball twice, men’s hoops, and softball). See that they were originally a regional campus of Indiana State University. Located in Evansville just across the Ohio River from Kentucky.
And can’t remember who that former Niner hoopster is.

North Alabama & Tarleton, have to get use to seeing some of these newer D1 schools.
Have to applaud them for competing
in what are probably very low sports budgets.
I believe North Alabama has an experienced college head football coach.
Gipson transferred from Tarleton. Their MBB coach definitely has experience!
