2023 CBI Tournament, 3/18-22 FloHoops + ESPN2

Not directly related to today’s game but a good read about WCU’s lone NCAAT appearance in 1996 when the #16 Catamounts lost to the #1 Boilermakers by two.

Also reminds me that the Cats have produced some decent pros in Jarvis Hayes (transferred to UGA after Hopkins was dismissed) and Kevin Martin, with the latter’s NBA career lasting for a dozen years. Hayes is now an assistant coach at Georgia State.

Plain point of fact, we haven’t produced an NBA player of that caliber since Cornbread.

We produced 1 coming out of college.

True fans take pleasure in wins and bemoan the losses, not the reverse.

Where’s the watch party, I’m in…

If a WCU bar exists in Charlotte maybe they are having a watch party.

Where is the don’t care option? I literally don’t care. If we win good for the kids but I sure as hell am not gonna brag about beating western in a 3rd rate tournament and if we lose it’s just another disappointing loss in long list of disappointing losses. It’s the definition of meh

Any post tourney where we are a #3 seed where we have never been that high of a seed in any CUSA tourney in last 10 years much less win a game in it in so many years is all I need to know.

Was at the Uptown Cabaret many moons ago and saw a guy pay a stripper to kick him in the nuts. She readily obliged. I am that guy now with Charlotte BB. Please remember me that way going forward. Thanks.

FWIW, FAU lost to Northern Colorado in the first round of last year’s CBI. And North Texas’s CBI championship didn’t propel the Mean Green to the NCAAT the following season, though they did eventually make it. So we’ll see what happens with us.

Another year of Sanchez definitely feels like this…100%

For the record I don’t think any team with a losing conference record should be playing in a post season tournament - any kind of tournament. You didn’t earn it.

A losing conference record and a #3 seed.

FWIW, North Texas did it with both a conference (8-10) and an overall losing (15-17) record in 2018. Their CBI run allowed McCasland to avoid a sub-.500 start to his tenure in Denton.

No promises, definitely protect your devices, but this may work:

I just tried to go in and my antivirus program blocked a threat. Be careful.

Fanboys and fans are not one and the same. Fanboys get giddy about playing meaningless games.

I’m never going to root against kids with my school across their chest. Just not going to happen. It’s an asshole move. I’ll go to the games and cheer them on as best I can and I’ll be happy for them when they win. They are not pros, they are kids. I always hope for the best for them.

I’ll hold the coach to a different standard. He gets paid to perform at a certain level. If he succeeds then the two things align, if he doesn’t then they don’t and I’ll address my displeasure with the coach and staff in ways other than actively rooting against the team or running down the successes they do have. If we win the CBI I’m not gonna run it down. I just won’t say anything.

I don’t think the kids can feel you rooting for them in Daytona from Gaston County.
