Yes, it appears the Sunbelt has more parity now than a few years ago when one or two teams were dominating.
App is not happy with their coach, but the fans cannot believe they are like every G5 school and you only catch lightning in the bottle once

They have had a run that is the envy of many programs. Their mistake was thinking they are more than they are. They wanted a coach who didn’t view App as a stepping stone and one that would stay and be committed to App.
See where that thinking got them? G5 programs and lower P5s are stepping stones. That’s reality. That’s what we are. Trying to find a coach that isn’t that way is a recipe for disaster. If they stay great but it shouldn’t be a driving factor in who gets hired. Hire top guy, win get hired away and do it again. Now they have a substandard position coach as a HC that they owe 1.2 mil or so to, but he’s an app guy!

UTEP gets its second win ever east of the Mississippi.
They’ve kept that lightning in the bottle for many years, but eventually you just make the wrong hire. Even the big boys can make that mistake. Look at Texas. They weren’t very good for much of the last decade, though they’re obviously back this season. The difference though is the big boys can afford to buy their way out of their mistakes while the little guys can’t. Every hire we make is a gamble, and if it pays off, we get rewarded with the opportunity to gamble again in 2-3 years.
App was bound to hire a ‘meh’ coach sooner or later. Right now though, I’d kill just to have a ‘meh’ coach.
I’m not sure he’s even meh. I think he might be bad. Just watching the slow decline.

Most programs have ups and downs, that is normal. We just struggle to find the ups.

Wow I went to bed at half and this didn’t seem like any sort of possibility. Stanford was offering so littler resistance.
Stanford WR went TF off in the 2nd half. Something like 295 yards and 3 TDs. I fell asleep on the couch and woke up to the final score. Thought I was in some kind of weird dream.

Another NCAA diatribe as if it’s an independent regulatory body imposing its will upon college athletics. STFU and instead lobby your fellow FBS schools to get the rule changed.
