Syracuse HC Boeheim retires after 47 seasons

Quite apparent that Boeheim’s retirement has been in the works. Won’t have to visit Greensboro ever again!

Boeheim’s first season at Syracuse was 1976-77. Among his assistants was some guy named Rick Pitino and SU was among 70 independents in college hoops. And his final game that year - #17 UNCC 81, #6 Syracuse 59 - occurred in the NCAAT regional semifinal in Lexington, KY on March 17, 1977.

Grant McCasland will be in the mix:

I knew UC Berkeley was bad this season but didn’t realize they were right there with UofL (4-28) and Georgetown (7-25) for P6 futility:

That entire league isn’t that great. Take UCLA away and does it really look that much different than CUSA?

They have more teams in the top 100, but mostly 65+. It doesn’t look that much like a “power” league.

Cal is operating as the type of boat anchor that CUSA usually has to deal with.

Pac-12 is #6 in the NET rankings, so within the so-called P6. Of course, ACC sitting at #7 and harping they don’t get respect!

Been seeing that coming for quite some time! Rick Pitino?
