Rasado tabbed for post-game on ESPN 730 by Matt and Trevor (or however that works). 16 pts, 5 rebs + 8 asts in 35 mins of action.
Interior D needs work.
Offense from Braswell and Rolf was much appreciated.
Wanna see what the full roster looks like, even if it doesnāt include Oden.
Students turned out, but the āmoney sideā of the lower level was not well represented.
Noisy crowd over all.
8pm games donāt help. I saw a surprising number of people exiting Halton and heading to the deck as I was walking in. I guess some fans opted for the earlier womenās game rather than being on campus past 10.
I think attendance would have been a fair amount higher with a 7pm tip.
Couple of thoughts from the front row
Good outside shooting team
Rosario is a good passer and has good moves. Must rebound better
Whole team must rebound better.
Defense was ok but we look slow laterally and trying to recover off screens
If Reiber canāt make shots he is otherwise a liability
Rolf was nice surprise. Fundamentally sound. Hit some key 3s
We have work to do.
I happened to read their article, and it states the original game time of 7PM EST against Utah State. This was recently changed to 4PM EST. Utah Stateās website has the updated time but Charlotteās does not.
I sent an email to the article author regarding the updated time.
I have not read much at all about transfers or the team, did not go to the Georgia game or even read about it, so I went in last night mostly ignorant and overall, I liked what I saw.
Offense was pretty consistent, minus one or two lulls. Presbyterian never truly challenges us even though they kept it close but I just never thought the game was in doubt. We played 8 guys with a steady rotation and I thought Rosado was good, Rolf was impressive and Thomas seemed poised. Good to see Folkes, Braswell & Graves back in action too. Need to rebound better, defense was inconsistent but we shot the ball MUCH better than I expected. Nice win - GO NINERS!
Iām old. (Class of '93) I start winding down at 9 and asleep most nights by 10. I was there for the second half of the womenās game and left at halftime of the menās. Live in Mount Pleasant so 30 minute drive. Yeah - 8pm tip is too late for me. Like double-headers - on Saturdays.
All that said - team looks good although like a lot of you - I was learning who the players are. Which leads me to last-years complaint I had⦠and I hope someone from the video dept browses here. PLEASE stop putting the āmake some noiseā and āpicks upā and other graphics on EVERY video board. After a made shot or during free throws or whatever is then I want to read the video boards but most times when I look up the stats and even score is covered with graphics. They donāt need to be on the entirety of every board.
End of old man rant - now you kids get off my lawn!
Since I didnāt get season tickets I have to go outta my way now to buy tickets and Iām not going out of my way to buy tickets to a team I know nothing about. They want to be treated like pros so now they gotta earn my attendance.
I know a decent number of former season ticket holders taking this approach given the increase in ticket prices and the current state of rosters.
In addition to that there were some other alumni events happening Monday night.
Overall pleased. Any win makes me happy. However being out rebounded is a huge concern. Score was closer than Iād like vs this competition. We did have our biggest lead at 15, but winning by a single digit 9 was a bit of a letdown.
Still looking forward to seeing improvements and pulling an upset or two.
Happy with the win especially when considering South Carolina lost a buy game to North Florida, UGA beat Tennessee Tech by only 6, and Elon led UNC-CH with 7+ minutes to go before the Heels closed on a run for the W. Our opening game with a number of new players, injuries and illness, etc and we win pretty easily. Iāll take it especially since Saturday will be a much different opponent in 2023-24 MW regular season champ Utah State - a team with an average home attendance of 8,500 last year.
Monday at 8pm vs Presbyterian is a no go for my wife. Weāll be at alot of games this season just not this one.
Take your complaints up with the NCAA, not the students
This is definitely not a Sanchez team anymore.
We are a lot more aggressive on the offensive end and pushed the ball more than I can remember in awhile.
We hit 11 3s and not one shot clock violation for burning the clock down!!!
BigTimeNiner pointed out that we have a pro or P4 coaching staff on the bench. Counted 7 coaches on the bench unless I am mistaken and some student managers included in that group.
Its early but we need to find an effective back up 5 / Center on the defensive end. Hopefully someone steps up.
Hoping we can get healthy. Blackmon coming back should be a huge help for our guards/wings. Need for either Nika/Oden to get healthy. Iāll take one at this point.
